Hello to all you fellow hardworking East Dulwich PTA committee members and fair organisers out there! (waves tiredly)

It's Summer Fair season for our local schools - this coming Saturday alone there are fairs at Goodrich, Goose Green and here at Heber. If you've got a young family, do come along and check them out - they're a cheap, fun way to spend a few hours, and you get to support your local community schools. You don't need to have a child at the school to attend.

Feel free to use this thread to plug your own school's fair - they tend to get a bit lost in the What's On section. For our part, Heber's fair is this Saturday 6 July from 12-3pm at Heber School, Heber Road SE22. We've got a 'Carnival of Nations' theme this year, so in addition to our usual giant inflatables, crazy games and popular cafe, we've got lots of international food, activities and live entertainment, from Jamaican jerk chicken to Japanese calligraphy to Irish dancing. Make a Brazilian-style carnival headdress in our craft area, get your face painted with a flag, have a go at the Las Vegas-themed human fruit machine or hang out in La Guinguette, with its authentic French food, drink and games. There'll be a grand carnival parade just before 3pm led by a Samba-style parent/teacher band, and we'll be giving out spot prizes to children in international dress or carnival outfits.

Hope to see you there!

Good thinking HP+F

Goose Green has our traditional (10th annual!) carnival parade across Grove Vale down Ondine and up Adys to Goose Green where our fair begins at 12pm.

The parade is great the whole school out singing led by the school samba and steel pan bands.

We have a packed schedule on stage including the talented choirs and there will be hot food including pizza, Thai and jerk chicken and a fully stocked bar.

Panning for gold, bouncy castle and slides, sideshow type pocket money games, coconut shy, facepainting etc

Raffle with fab prizes including a Kindle Fire HD, London Eye tickets and tickets to the Dr Who Prom at the Royal Albert Hall as well as loads of lovely prizes from our fabulous local businesses.

Oh and Dr Bike will be present offering free bike servicing.

See you there

Bring on the sunshine

Just to add to the mix, the Goodrich School summer fair is tomorrow, 1-4pm.

A great way to spend the afternoon meeting people from the local school and community. Particuarly good introduction to the school community if your child is starting there in September.

This year we have an Alice in Wonderland theme fancy dress parade, the usual fun inflatables, lots of Arts and crafts, Live entertainment, A Summer show, great raffle prizes, food, and this year the fair ends with a spectacular balloon race.

If anyone still has energy for another school fair, the Ivydale School Summer Fair will be on this coming Saturday, 13th July, 2-5pm.

All the usual attractions, bouncy castle, lots of games and crafts, smashing tea-room with cold drinks too, ice creams, fire engine, great DJ, our first Gangnam style dance off.....too many things to list really and others confirming as we speak.

Looks like the sun will be shining so why not come along and enjoy what is always a lovely community day out.

    • All the parents looking after their kids instead of skiving from their meaningless desk jobs might mean it's quieter on here. Still, at least it gives free rein to the bad-tempered, long-winded pensioners that begin their posts "having resided in Dulwich for a not inconsiderable number of decades, may I be so bold as to suggest..." 😉
    • I miss that cyclist chap that comments on everything
    • We have been patients at Sternhall Lane for years. Our experience has generally been incredibly positive with speedy responses and very helpful staff. We are generally fortunate to get a same day appointment should we really need one either at Sternhall Lane or at Tessa Jowell and any necessary referalls have been swift.
    • @Alice if left might have been stolen/taken by someone (peed on by a dog or fox), also there are some little things attached of - I assume - sentimental value. I hope the owner can claim them. Will leave a note indeed with info how to retrieve them, though not with a private phone number in a public space 😅 Maybe a friend of a friend will come across this post on EDF.  @embob97 They do have a ring, sorry.
