We have 2 rides for the 11th Nov, both lasting about 2½ hours. Parks and cemeteries takes you on a good ride to the Horniman and back. The pirate run to the closed roads for the Lord Mayors Show does not ride any great distance, but there is lots to see.

Lord Mayors Show    < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/lord-mayors-show-cycle-ride-tickets-750929258627

Second Saturday in November is date for the annual Lord Mayors Show. A procession of bands, floats and carriages around the streets of the City. The streets are cleared of traffic. There is a narrow window mid-morning when, expertly led by Werner, we have been able to enjoy these empty streets. And also sneak a view at some of the participants preparing for the parade which starts 11.03 (after the 2 minute silence for Remembrance) from Mansion House.

Start 10am at London Bridge (south side next to the Needle). Cross London Bridge, then negotiate with police and other security staff. Route clearly very uncertain. Can opt to stay and watch more of the parade or return with a guided group aiming to get back to London Bridge 12-12.30.  Report of last year’s ride, gives you a feel for this event, at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2022/healthy-ride-reports-nov-12th-2022/

Parks, Cemeteries and a Museum - Peckham to Horniman Museum. < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/parks-cemeteries-and-a-museum-peckham-to-horniman-museum-cycle-ride-tickets-750916219627 >

Cycle a circular route across SE London through parks and cemeteries to the Horniman Museum. Simon S. leading. About 10 miles. Start 10am in Peckham Square, next to Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre. Finish around 12.30.  Outward from Peckham Square via Nunhead Cemetery, Peckham Rye Park and Camberwell Old Cemetery.  Back via Camberwell New Cemetery, Brockley, Ladywell Cemetery, and Hilly Fields.  Easy-paced ride with a few ups and downs, but nothing serious. Plenty off road paths. Should be time for a coffee break. Everyone welcome. Report on this ride in Jan 2022. Route map at http://goo.gl/XzFkTD.

If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. How to cancel link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/help/en-gb/articles/575010/how-to-cancel-your-free-registration/

These rides are organised by Southwark Cyclists and are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.

    • Yes,I presumed so , but having been unable to find one ,I thought I'd ask on here.   It may be because I need to.virw the map on something other than my phone .
    • Sorry to hear that, New Wave. I hope you find something soon. I genuinely had this situation in Superdrug on the south coast yesterday. I was buying their own version of E45 cream (it's about a third of the cost) and they asked if I had my Superdrug card with me. I didn't. Who does?  But they were able to apply the appropriate discount to my purchase due to them having my mobile phone number and email on record.  You can fill in any old bollocks for the loyalty card. I found it quite funny when they asked me to confirm that I was Dr. Dave Dave, of Dave Road, Dave, London, SE15 5DV. I'm actually not a real doctor!
    • With gym memberships, it depends how often you go and how much you get out of it. If you go 3 times a week or lose 10kg in a year, that's a bargain. If you never go, it's incredibly expensive. There are people who will happily spend £50 2-3 times a week at the pub or on takeaway food or coffees over the course of a week or leasing a car. Whether it's worth it is up to you. 🤷‍♂️
