Gardening Tips for November

THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I CAN GIVE YOU THIS MONTH IS TO GET YOUR LANDSCAPING JOBS DONE IN WINTER.  IT GIVES YOUR GARDEN TIME TO RECOVER BY SPRING & USE OF YOUR GARDEN IN SUMMER

Hopefully you won’t have been affected by storm Ciaron this week & you can get out there to do the jobs you need to do

So let’s get to it , there’s a lot to do as usual

1. Plant Tulips Daffodils & Spring flowers to give you plenty of colour in your garden & containers . Use good quality Cyclamen in pots & borders & beautiful Christmas Roses Hellebores for lovely washed out colours in the shaded areas of your garden

2. Prune Roses back hard to prevent wind rock ( not a new band 😂😂😂). Prune back with sharp secateurs on an angle just before a bud , giving a nice shape to your shrub

3. After this storm clear all debris & leaves off your borders & lawns with a rake & blower . Add the smaller bits to your compost & burn the rest in a small fire . If you haven’t already aerated your lawn , put holes in with a fork every 6 inches & give your lawn an Autumn feed . New lawns can added at this time of year because you are not using them & it gives plenty of time to establish for Spring

4. Power wash paths & patios to make them safe from moss & verdigris

5. Raise pots & containers onto feet to avoid them water logging & freezing

6. Put out good quality bird food for Birds & animals you wish to have in your garden. They need it & add interest to your garden

7. Time to pick any fruits you are lucky to have in your garden & leave a box at your gate for friends & neighbours to enjoy if you have too many

Well that’s it for now . And to say I will be doing those beautiful Christmas trees again later in December. So let me have your orders by text.  Nigel @ 07759 862191                                                And if you don’t have time for these jobs get in touch with the recommended gardeners & landscapers on this site .
I have just about retired & given my company to my Son Oli . You can contact him at Exterior Design Gardens 07549 418219

With temperatures lower this week, please protect your tender plants with a fleece or bubble wrap or straw

Happy Gardening 😁

    • I am  ill in bed with Covid. It's not that I "can't be bothered" to read things. I am feeling crap and don't have the energy at the moment. I am not "brushing stuff aside and pleading ignorance." I am truthfully saying when I don't presently know enough about something to comment. I have always been very careful to try to  differentiate between fact and opinion in my posts, and I am not clear what your point is. And I am certainly not trying to wind anybody up. This is a forum. If you don't want to respond to my posts, that's up to you. I'm not sure why you feel the need to announce it.
    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
    • Truly horrific. Being passive or fighting back is what many of us think about by violent theft.
    • What ridiculous waste of money
