There's a report on the news today suggesting a annual charge to consumers of £17 to stop energy firms going bust

BBC News - Energy bills could rise by £17 to stop firms going bust
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-67087043

This is already on top of the extra £82 to cover the costs of making sure that households were not cut off imposed in 2021.

It feels like OFGEN aren't putting the consumers first and are in fact working with energy suppliers to protect their profits.

One would expect and hope that in a fair world OFGEN would look to protect the interests of the suppliers by leveraging a charge on their profits to keep them buoyant rather than charging the end user more to stop their supplier closing?

Thought that was for the ludicrous increase in the daily standing charge to pay for all those providers who went bust, and now they want to introduce an Annual Charge. They're having a laugh at the consumer who they are supposed to work in the interests of. Honestly, Ofgem needs to be removed as they are nothing but a liability to the consumer.

    • You might be interested in watching this video on you tube. It's from a wildlife gardener called Joel Ashton who regularly posts about his work in that area. Being interested in that kind of thing I follow him a lot. Anyway, a few days ago he posted about his plants being deliberately poisoned allegedly by his neighbour. He is going through the process of taking legal action and videoing this journey. There is another follow up which he posted a couple of days ago . It might be helpful to you. I think I should point out that the alleged culprit is not identified on the video so not breaking any privacy laws in sharing this.
