That's Walter W Collison who owned The Magdala (pictured) and what is now the Vale. He's also my mate's grandfather.

I knew an old lady who died a couple of years' ago when she was in her nineties. Her name was Renee Brown (don't know her maiden name). She told me she was born in the Magdala Pub. If I bump into her daughter, I will try and get some more details.

I used to have a photo of the Vale which was also owned by Walter W. Collison from the same era (pictured in 1911), had it framed and gave it to a girlfriend who still has it. Now, I wonder if we can find it the web somewhere....?
