Hi everyone,

Have a couple of loud squeaky areas on my floor in one of the rooms - property is Victorian, with laminate flooring over the original floor boards.

There is no access to the joists from below. Anyone have any suggestions, or had someone do this kind of work before?

Thanks,

-Adrian

If its the original floor boards that are squeaking you will need to lift the laminate and screw the original floor tight to the joist then relay laminate. If it is the laminate then it needs packing out. There are rolls of thin insulation you can buy from places like B&Q (crap stuff) but it is good for that job. Both fixes require the laminate to be lifted.

Alternatively throw the laminate in the bin - screw the joists down fill the gaps with resin and hire a sander then polish, oil or varnish.

In the end I think the best option is just to go to the restaurant which has the best overall reviews. If all the reviews are bad then avoid, but even if all the reviews are good that's not a cast iron gaurantee.
