A lot of these pubs are having to pay ridiculous prices to purchase the beer they sell so ultimately it is the brewers who are to blame…

well - not so much the brewers - it' more the pubcos who own all the pubs  themselves - they dictate what they landlord can sell and what price they charge

The Plough has cask ales and the food is good, the staff are nice.

Dulwich but not really East Dulwich which is fantastic.

Actually, don’t go there and spoil it please.

The food at the Plough must have vastly improved since I last ate there. It was absolutely appalling.

I paid £6.80 yesterday in Hammersmith yesterday for a pint of ale.  Not craft ale.  Not poncy lager.  But British ale.  Worst still I'm typing whilst half watching Question Time.  What a horrid person Rees Mogg is.

You wouldn't get drunk there.

    • We like Radha Krishna Bavan, a South Indian restaurant near Tooting Broadway station, but sadly they don't deliver. They have really good lunch deals and the food has been excellent without fail so far, plus too much to eat (doggy bags willingly provided by the lovely staff!) Probably wouldn't make a special journey to go there, but go there quite often for lunch when visiting my niece, who lives in Tooting. Can't remember if they do dosas, though
    • Yep,  the EU would definitely want cast-iron certainties that there was no chance of Brexit 2.0 before allowing the UK to rejoin. Best we can hope for in the short to medium term  is the UK rejoins the single market. That would at least make Brexit work *better* than it currently does.  But we live in a very volatile world and a lot can happen quickly, who'd thought we be rationally talking about the possibility of  a European Army outside the context of Brexit and its associated hysterics...
    • What I couldn't understand was on the day H&B  opened (or at least the Saturday after it) they had two people standing outside with trays of something round their necks, as if they were selling ice cream at the interval in a 1950s cinema. These things appeared to be free samples of something (can't remember what. Magnesium tablets? From the labels on the little jars?)  There was nothing to say they were free, nothing to say what they might be useful for, and no apparent attempt to engage passers by, or even to hand them out to passers by.  What was the point?! It had the opposite effect on me, as they looked so bored and fed up  We did have a wander round the shop, but the only thing they had which I might have bought ( a particular kind of milled seed which Health Matters don't stock)   I can get cheaper in Waitrose !!! ETA: I only buy their nuts when they are on offer (and freeze them) 🤣
    • If you are referring to me you don't have to pay to read my reviews and I'm not even sure if you have to sign up. If that feels too sinister you can just click on the links as far as I know, but the difference is if you sign up you receive the - free - reviews by email whenever they appear. Quite a useful - free - service I think. I'm not going to spam the EDF every time I run a review, but here's a link to the site as I've run a few new reviews in the last few weeks. https://eatsdulwich.substack.com/
