Bellenden Belle
Now if she had Simon we would have reached a conclusion a page back surely?Now... do you sugar or wax dear....I can't answer your sugaring questions I'm afraid Brendan... but I think it's similar to waxing, so yes probably.I used to use parcel tape in my teens .... I was terribly thrifty back then. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3328-fashion-advice-please/page/3/#findComment-104408 Share on other sites
RosieH
yes sugaring is essentially the same as waxing - only meant to be less painful - I haven't found it so. used by the ancient egyptians I believe, they were a smooth skinned bunch, way ahead of their time (got to be a better than a strigil for avoiding ingrowing hairs)essentially it's like caramel, only I wouldn't recommend eating it - especially not after it's been used once Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3328-fashion-advice-please/page/3/#findComment-104427 Share on other sites
Steph
I think the leggings are a no no, they rarely look good on anyone.Shouldn't really wear tights in June unless you really have to and the coloured ones don't really work either unless your under 25. As for the knee high socks again 21 and under.BB, coming from Liverpool (very much like Newcastle in the fashion stakes) I know all the girls will be bare legged wearing little else and while you are trying to avoid that look, I think the best thing would be to build up your false tan. Go for the natural look of course, add your vintage strappy shoes and away you go.. Go for classy rather than trendy would be my advise Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3328-fashion-advice-please/page/3/#findComment-104428 Share on other sites
RosieH
no I categorically can't have this. Coloured tights are great, and the knee socks are fine worn with attitude. (wear them with bunches and it's just a bit pervy)BB, I haven't seen you in the flesh, but if the earlier comment about your great sense of personal style is anything to go by, then I think you'll carry them off with aplomb.Fake tan in Liverpool just runs the risk of looking a little, well, WAGish. I went for a night out in Manchester recently and there was so much fake tan and over-straightened hair that I thought I'd wandered onto the set of Hollyoaks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3328-fashion-advice-please/page/3/#findComment-104565 Share on other sites
Ant
I think the theory with sugaring is that it sticks to the hair but not the skin. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3328-fashion-advice-please/page/3/#findComment-104592 Share on other sites
Keef
Okay, a confession, years ago I made the big mistake of letting my then girlfrend (a scouser for the record) talk me in to letting her "sugar" me before we went away on holiday. Basically you spread this thick goo on, which in itself bloody hurts, then put a cloth strip over it and pull off quickly.IT F**KING HURTS!!!!!!!! Don't do it.Since then I have worn my body hair and beer belly with pride... Bloody scousers! Bellenden Belle
Ooooh - I had a lovely weekend, thank you very much and did East Dulwich proud. But yes, it was a dilemma. I bought knee high socks as advised ... - but I got them home and my poor little legs were so short that really there were no knees to be seen and they looked decidedly odd with the silk dress. Agggghhhh! So then I moved onto fake tan...Neutrogena nourishing glow...and got myself a lovely pedicure. Decision made. Or so I thought...For as I sat on the train it started to rain and once I hit the North the bitter wind made me breathe a sigh of relief that nestled in my baggage was a pair of black 40 denier tights....Hoorah, for the bleak North since if I'm honest that was my favourite option. And goodness, let me tell you... I stood a mile out from the forty-something wannbee wags I encountered that night. Darlings - I felt decidedly London in my attire and very pleased with myself too...fake tan, botox, and a distinct smell of desperation were found by Bellenden Belle on Eccleshal Road on Friday night. Indeed I am convinced I saw someone trying to pull a Chuckle Brother..Did I get praised for my magnificent effort? Not exactly but I like to believe that sometimes silence is golden! david_carnell
Dashing?! The man appears to have a carpet under his shirt. And what's with the Clark's shoes? Where are his jungle boots and pith helmet? This is slap-dash at best.Bloody colonials. Honestly, you leave them to run a country and look how they end up dressing. Moos
Maybe RosieH is talking about the devil-may-care I'll-be-coming-back-for-you-later-darling glint in the man's eye?Yeah, those colonials. Don't wear nearly enough tweed, do they d_c?The short suit is a hideous embarrassment, I'm not even sure I like the ones that they started selling for women a couple of years ago.
