I 100% do not trust our local postal service

That would be a reasonable attitude as regards the management, but my experience is that the posties are doing the best they can but are woefully understaffed (there's no cover for sickness or leave, and some walks have no regular postie assigned) and, despite denials, packages are prioritised over letter post. Posties can only physically carry parcels to far fewer addresses than letters, which means even on existing walks they don't take letters out wit them if they are carrying parcels. Because they cannot walk to the DO (in Peckham) they have to drive there and back, with two or 3 walks worth in each van. Making covering another postie's  walk that much more difficult.

Royal Mail's parcel delivery service is not as good as most of the couriers' in my experience. Despite my redirection instructions, twice, and their acknowledgements, twice, they've delivered my online order regardless to the address (outside our area), with a confirmatory photo showing it prominently propped up against the front door, where it would still be if I hadn't made some frantic texts to a neighbour, luckily.

The issue with mail delivery is getting ridulous. Once again, I've had a late dump of post, some of it over 3 weeks late. Like others, yet another parking fine which has escalated because it wasn't received on time. I'll now have to pay £170;  and a Vehicle Tax reminder,  the date of which has already past. None of us will get anywhere appealing these things with the issuing authorities by simply saying that the post was late. We ever can't prove that letters weren't delivered. I've emailed my MP yet  again but I'm at the point of going to the Peckham sorting office with my protest placard!! Anyone else?

Do they send you an email the day before and the day of delivery saying they have your package and between what hours they expect to deliver?  That’s what they used to do with my deliveries, but not recently.

Actually, our current MP, and particularly the one before, have substantial evidence of the Peckham DO's failures in mail delivery and they can be prayed in aid as regards any appeals. Although, in law, proof of posting is normally accepted as proof of receipt as regards the Royal Mail; the evidence of local and continuing Dulwich DO failures is clear and well recorded by our MPs. I would write letters to any issuing authorities citing known and continued failures of the Dulwich DO to deliver in a timely fashion, cite correspondence with local MPs and (visibly) copy your appeal to both Helen Hays and Ms Reeves.

We got a delivery today in the Gardens. It's only the second bit of post we've seen in five working days. My postman told me the the local MP had visited their office this week to find out what was going on. Hopefully the visit will give them a kick up the backside if they're were being slack.

    • For some strange reason, hubby likes to spend 'big' on family cards birthday and Christmas. I think it may have stemmed from his mother- she equated money with status and was a bit of a snob!  She was also quite eccentric - we asked for a suitcase one year and got a set of 4. One year she gave hubby the equivalent of a hearing aid - it was a device to hear bird song. Nobody we know send expensive cards. We have a twice yearly set of cards from the Foot and Mouth Painting Artists and have done for the last 30 plus years. I think they are around £12 for set of 10  - cannot remember what we paid this winter but they are fantastic value and beautiful paintings.  One of the best places around to buy cards is the Fair Trade Centre at Christ Church Barry Road. Fantastic selection with a starting price of £1.30.
    • I had to renew my licence - took photocopy of my current licence and also my renewal application and posted everything off. Within 10 days received my new licence. My old licence was due to run out in January so I submitted the renewal early December.
    • I cannot remember who ran/organised the original ED LETS. They had meetings at the ED Community Centre every so often. I think there were about 20 - 25 people involved.
