So Macroban, are you going to tell us where the photos are from? I would be really interested to see if there are any photos of our street, Hindmans Rd. Our house and the one it is attached to date from around 1855, a doctors surgery and residence and the coach house. Servants quarters were added on the other side in 1900. 1855 is quite early for around here.

EDmummuy,

Nothing special here. I did some scans a couple of years ago, and in an idle moment I decided to share a few of the more interesting ones.

Isn't there a postcard of Hindmans Road with a horse-drawn milk-cart in view? I'm pretty sure I've seen that some time in the past.

Here's a picture of Ady's Road: "a good example of the second phase of Peckham's suburban development, ... designed for members of the lower-middle class and skilled artisans."

Note the early horse-drawn Bugaboo.

I bought a copy of the Cyrstal Palace Road photograph from the street market in Bromley earlier this year. Can't remember the name of the seller but they had lots of old photos of various places in and around London. I'll try and find out who I got it from.

    • I think it is less easy/ more expensive to fence off the Common, as opposed to the nicer parts, which is why our nicer parts are hawked off to Gala. Why should we have access to nicer parts of our park in summer when we might most like to have access if it can be monetised. It's ironic really that this council is so Trumpy.
    • Niko is my go to plumber - he's always friendly, reliable and very good at thinking outside the box for finding solutions. He did have his phone stolen recently and was on a brick phone, so if you tried Whatsapping him, he won't have received it yet but he should have a new smart phone by now. He always gets back to you promptly and is full of good advice and always up for a chat 🙂 Niko - 07818 607583 -  highly recommended!
    • Another recommendation for Niko. He arrived in 10 minutes of me calling him and successfully fixed my annoying dripping tap! He did mention a problem with his phone, think it was stolen, but he is now available on 07818 607583
