ClareC
Hello, I need to get to Paddington station, wondered, does anyone know what the fastest public transport route there is? Cassius
I would have thought train to London Bridge - then Jubilee line to Baker Street and change there for the Bakerloo. That's the way I go anyway. Sam
Tend to go for train to Elephant and Castle (from Denmark Hill) or bus to Elephant (if you can stand sitting on the Walworth Road for ages) and then Bakerloo line from there. SeanMacGabhann
depends on time of day - as Sam says, I would go bus/train to E&C and Bakerloo from there. Cassius' route is fine but all that extra change of transport with big bags can be painful Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3306-what-is-the-best-route-to-paddington/#findComment-103236 Share on other sites
Jeremy
If it's early morning (eg en route to heathrow for an early flight), I'd go for a cab every time! Otherwise Sam's route sounds fine - personally I'd go for the train from DH to E&C rather than the bus. kidder
Another option would be to get the overland from either Peckham or Denmark hill to Victoria and then the Cirle Line to Paddington, 30mins. SeanMacGabhann
30 mins on a good day with the wind behind maybe? I would allow an hour for that journey.. I've waited that long just for the next circle line train some days! boosboss
Whatever route you decide on check for engineering work, especially at weekends. This weekend the Bakerloo Line is suspended between E&C and Lambeth North. JimSmith
Another option I use is the 185 to Oval and make my way up from there, outside rush hour tends to be quicker than bus to E & C. Depends on your walk to the E. Dulwich station whether train or bus is quicker. SteveT
If I was carrying luggage anything bigger than a brief case, I would buy a cab and allow an hour, and take private eye to read when you make it in half the time.Have fun! bignumber5
12 to lambeth north then Bakerloo all the way to paddington. We've done this a few times to get to heathrow express and it's always been fine. The key was l.north. much less stressful than a change at E&C, which is always busy and a bit of a maze - l.north is only on the bakerloo so the station is small and not many people use it, plus it doesn't have the subway rabbit warren of E&C. ClareC
Thanks everyone :) Seems I have a few options to try out but that the favourite is the E&C route! lbsmith73
The best way is on a bicycle I do it every day and it takes 30 min Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3306-what-is-the-best-route-to-paddington/#findComment-104188 Share on other sites
ClareC
What route do you take? What is it like traffic wise? I enjoy cycling but so far the idea of negotaiating the rush hour traffic scares me!!! pepsi
Belatedly chucking in my advice. I do this route very regularly (too regularly) as I have to go to Cardiff for work frequently. I've tried every route possible but the best is overground ED to London Bridge, Jubilee Line to Baker Street, Bakerloo Line to Paddington (the interchange at Baker Street only involves walking through a short passageway on the same level) I promise you this is the quickest route.
