malumbu
I'm still posting on this thread until it turns into an anti Southwark/cyclist/LTN/CPZ/ULEZ/school street thread. Two drivers today, large Volvo SUV did a u turn by Frogley/Nuffield, then hovered by a parking space that was too small, then blocked the road for everyone. Then a short time later another driver blocked Bawdale Road, parking with their hazards on, outside a garage, then proceeded to reverse several hundred metres still blocking the road. Not dangerous but just inconsiderate, first was probably on the school run and exemplifies how silly SUVs are in tight urban roads , It's clearly not every driver, but thanks for giving me opportunity to get it off my chest. Hope the car identified in the post above has been reported to the Met Police. I did similar for a DHL van that was not taxed that drove at me on purpose; whilst DHL were good in receiving my complaint (as well as reported to the police) they would not tell me the outcome. It was a contractor not employed directly by DHL. Penguin68
I do think that reporting driver behaviour you don't like, or just think selfish here is unhelpful, in a thread which is pointed at actual dangerous behaviour, where third parties are at risk. It dilutes the value of this thread. There's hardly a day when someone doesn't do something on the road which I wouldn't recommend or do (which does, sorry, include cyclists!) but diverting this thread to report it would be a waste. malumbu
Oh come on, you and others go on and on and on about cyclists. This is just providing a little balance. A large car blocking a street does far more to inconvenience others than any bike will. Penguin68
I go on about cyclists but not on a thread devoted to actual dangerous drivers. By all means start a thread of your own on 'drivers who annoy me'. Or is that all your threads? 1 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/329817-dangerous-drivers-everywhere/page/4/#findComment-1695083 Share on other sites

Rockets
Yup, agree. The pedestrian crossing in Dulwich Village is a particularly bad one for this. Same happened to me today at that crossing, so many drivers seem to think it’s optional. Two drivers, one after the other ignored me waiting to cross. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/329817-dangerous-drivers-everywhere/page/4/#findComment-1695164 Share on other sites

Rockets
Yes Snowy, I also hear a DPD van also parked badly in Newcastle...but, a bit like Richmond Park nothing to do with Dulwich so not really a topic to discuss on the East Dulwich forum.... #pleasetrytokeepitlocal Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/329817-dangerous-drivers-everywhere/page/4/#findComment-1695172 Share on other sites
malumbu
You and others keep going on and on about cyclists speeding in parks. So when somebody reports cars speeding in parks you cannot acknowledge that (a) it is an issue (b) it is dangerous. Instead you do your Farage/Clarkson/Johnson approach of ignoring the point and off down another direction. Yet another unhelpful dig. As a cyclist you will have come across numerous incidents of dangerous and inconsiderate drivers. Rather than denying this I'd be interested in your experiences of bad driving. The much larger parks are arguably a slightly different case but in our smaller local parks, I would like to see 5mph for all vehicles adhered to. It's an incredible evidently intentional approach designed to distract from the fact that the police found someone doing 47mph in a park full of people and animals. What's the thread title? And what were Admin's notes on this subforum: This forum board is for any topic related to transport or roads, so this can be related to East Dulwich, Southwark, London-wide etc. so perhaps wind back your forum bullying / policing and leave the boomer hashtags alone for a bit? 2 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/329817-dangerous-drivers-everywhere/page/4/#findComment-1695184 Share on other sites
first mate
But it is clearly the case that the perpetrator was caught and presumably a penalty applied for a serious breach. On the other hand we regularly have cyclists going like the clappers in Dulwich Park, some I have seen timing themselves, treating the perimeter track like a race track. So speeds well over 5mph and well over 20mph, if you ask me. The park is often full of pedestrians, children and animals. Are you in favour of cyclists adhering to 5mph in the park, is there any good reason they should not? first mate
Snowy, so you don't think cyclists should stick to 5mph in Dulwich Park? Why not? Isn't it anti social to exceed it, given other park users? Please explain? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/329817-dangerous-drivers-everywhere/page/4/#findComment-1695190 Share on other sites

first mate
Come on, be serious, who will stop the cyclists? Not once, have I seen any cyclists stopped by any SNT or other for cycling on the pavement, for jumping red lights, for cycling recklessly and certainly not for exceeding 5mph in the park. But, do you agree cyclists should adhere to 5mph in our local parks and 20mph in 20 mph zones? Are cycling lobby groups like LCC sending out advisories to its membership. If nothing else peer pressure may have some effect and is better than nothing. . snowy
So you haven't contacted anyone about it? Despite seeing it so often? And of course I believe that road users should be considerate and follow speed limits, its a park without public roads so not the place to be cycling at 20 if that ever happens - i pass through it regularly and haven't seen it myself. i wouldn't know what LCC say as I'm not a member. Does the AA or the Association of British Drivers do the same?
