I think 18th is too far away too. it should be at the beginning of the month and probably the first Friday of the month so as to stop all these shenanigans. People would have prior knowledge of the dates and could work them into their diaries in advance

That is better, I think from now on (meaning in to next year) there should be no debate, and it should just be first Friday. Some people will miss out on some, but you're never going to please everyone.
