Peckhamrye
I live on the edge of Peckham Rye and for the last hour there has been a lot of drumming going in, presumably on the Rye. I am not particularly bothered but would like to know what it is. Any ideas??? Sue
Oh, that's interesting, what a relief, I thought it was somebody on my road who had taken up drumming.I could hear it from inside my house, and I'm nowhere near the Rye!I was going to go and suggest they bought a practice pad!ETA: When I lived in Devon, at one point I had a teenage drummer living on each side of me.One had been banished to the garden shed. Great for the parents, less great for me when I was sitting in my garden :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32781-drumming-on-peckham-rye/#findComment-650099 Share on other sites
tiddles
about a month ago I was walking the dog (about half seven on the rye) and there were some people practising their drumming near the cafe. They were very good = suspect it might just be a monthly practise session. the dog was fascinated.... Peckhamrye
That's fine - they certainly sounded very good! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32781-drumming-on-peckham-rye/#findComment-650123 Share on other sites
reetpetite
We heard it too and on Saturday night couldn't tell where it was coming from but did seem from the rye . Sue
Were they playing bodhrans?Or did they have actual drum kits?!Or bongos?Or something else completely?I wish I'd taken more notice of the actual drumming now! DJKillaQueen
Hmm..and I've just come home to find a drum abandoned by the bin outside my home. It's not a snare drum but the next size up. Coincidence perhaps? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32781-drumming-on-peckham-rye/#findComment-650145 Share on other sites
Help-Ma-Boab
There were 3 or 4 of them. Drums strapped to their fronts. Belting them big licks. They were near the tree with the bench round it. Had a conductor type of leader in front of them. They were there, under the tree a few days ago as well. Fair play to them, they are pretty good to my tuneless ear. Ted Max
Great - more distraction for the hard-pressed motorists on Peckham Rye. Will you all be so keen on this unlicensed drumming when the inevitable multi-car pile up happens? LadyDeliah
Simple, Ted. Just continue talking on your mobile and you won't notice anything else :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32781-drumming-on-peckham-rye/#findComment-650169 Share on other sites
Ted Max
Yes, LadyD. Motorists on that side of the Rye already have to deal with the distraction of dozens of joggers' arses pertly emoting all the way up the side of the Rye. Overlay an insistent animalistic rhythmic beating soundtrack and there'll be multi-vehicle RTAs peppering the B238 southbound.Still, more work for FM Conway, I suppose. Brian Tee
If you love your music live, why not sign up for a board in support of Aquarius festival? We'd happily accomodate a bit of live drumming at the Festival. Local volunteers required to simply allow an estate agent board advertising the Festival to be put up outside their home for the month of August. Just go to the thread, also in this section, to read more and sign up!http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1115032 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32781-drumming-on-peckham-rye/#findComment-650181 Share on other sites
ianr
> Hmm..and I've just come home to find a drum abandoned by the bin outside my home. Disposable drums for giving to guests at parties and celebrations? What a spiffing idea.> the distraction of dozens of joggers' arses pertly emoting all the way up the side of the Rye.Your pathetic fallacy is showing. LadyDeliah
Ted, I'm surprised you're not a fan of cyclists' lycra'd arses up in your face while you're driving. I know mine looks pretty peachy on my commute. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32781-drumming-on-peckham-rye/#findComment-650202 Share on other sites

dennis
I recognise a few faces in the photo as ex-Kingsdale students. They are really talented, made some fantastic sounds in the school concerts. Let us know when practise I'll come and listen. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32781-drumming-on-peckham-rye/#findComment-650383 Share on other sites
