musty smell from under floorboards

Has anyone suffered with a musty smell coming from underneath the floorboards in a typical terrace house. It seems to have got much worse now the weather is a little warmer / dryer. 

Anybody had any success in getting rid of the smell?

You may have damp or some type of rot. Recommend you get it investigated my elderly neighbor had a leak which I could not see but it badly damaged my property lost the floor

We had this due to lack of ventilation under ground floor, floor boards. We put in some air bricks which fix it but then made the floorboards very cold in winter

We have same. You can sort the grouting between the boards to make them more airtight or look at getting some insulation below them or even boarding over them and laying new boards on top if that makes sense, to make a smell-proof layer

It sounds like you may have some kind of damp issue. Do you have ventilation blocks letting air flow under the floor boards.  I had a similar issue and I got it sorted    it depends obviously on the cause etc

it could be a dead rodent, but if there are no ventilation grilles, then it could be wood rot which you really need to sort out before it infects the whole place.  Ventilation does make it colder in winter but you can deal with this as someone else suggested by sealing the floorboards and/or going back to carpets if you don't have them.  Sort out the damp first though!  Good Luck

Take up an unobtrusive floorboard and use a torch.
