Southwark council have increased their parking permit fees to extortionate prices .

I pay a parking permit for somebody and it has gone from £38 for 3 months to £ 64.60 or for 1 month it is now £27.90 , and this is for ulez complient vehicles non complient are even dearer for 1 month £31.60 and for 3 months £81 , I emailed southwark and they said it was to reduce the amount of vehicles in southwark , I dont believe they should dictate on how many people drive vehicles in southwark after all this is a free counter where we choose to drive walk or cycle

Wear Jean's or trousers or a dress or skirt eat a bag of crisps or a chocolate but they are trying to force change on the motorists of southwark ...  I have included a screenshot of the reply from southwark council

I have for some time been saying (from their own statements) that it is part of the Labour Party's policy in Southwark to drive out privately owned cars from the borough. All their actions (LTNs etc; spreading CPZs) have been in aid of this. Only excluding traffic from outside schools at start and finish of the school day can be seen as having another reason (safety) and I'm sure its contribution to the anti-private vehicle policy will have helped councillors make decisions in this area too.  When they introduced CPZs into Dulwich it was always clear that once they had sufficient weight they would whack up the charges as far as they could - to punish us for having the temerity of being able to afford cars and choosing not to live in an area with comparatively poor public transport (compared at least to the north of the borough). This is NOT about air quality (and never was), it is about social engineering. And punishing the Kulaks.

One of the cyclists will be along in a moment to tell you that there is no war on motorists and Southwark have never said they want to end private car ownership in the Borough.

Can we open a book on which one it will be to comment first ?

I agree penguin68 totally that its nothing to do with air quality it's too do with money ....

Not sure how the government and councils and the worst mayor ever can expect the people of Britain to solve the pollution for the entire world it's no good demanding and forcing us to do the impossible

Yes, an increase in parking permit fees is exactly like being a victim of Stalinist terror. It must be awful to live in fear of starvation or summary execution by roving Conway gangs. Everyone keeps talking about commemorating the Holodomor, but where's the memorial for you?

    • Being nice to Trump, constantly and obsequiously, in now way keeps you inside with him honesty far betteR and there isnt going to be any meaningful trade deal with USA anyway because it conflicts with other interests.     bugs the shite out of me listening to people complain about uk being rude about Trump when the things the uk continues to say about Europe and its leaders is unhinged
    • Hello, is anyone selling any dining chairs/accent chairs? Thank you.
    • Many people have been dismissive of Trump in the recent past, including his VP. Besides, Mandelson and Trump have much in common. They are both shallow, vulgar and vain. They both fetishise wealth and power, irrespective of who holds it or how it was accumulated. They were both close friends and associates of the late Jeffrey Epstein and have moved in the same circles, as Ghislaine Maxwell’s address book allegedly confirms. Recognising another who is utterly transactional and lacking in a moral compass, there’s every chance of “Petie” fitting right in Mar-a-Largo.
