Is anyone else having problems making or receiving calls from the top end of Upland road with EE/orange on iPhone? I thought it was the phone then it started happening to more people in our house. Can't ring orange as phone doesn't work! Any ideas or solutions? Thanks. The phone shows a good signal but I keep getting 'call failed'. I have tried resetting network which worked once and then not again. Just wounded if anyone else was experiencing the same thing.
hi there , i was on the phone to t mobile for ages yesterday and today because ive been having the same problem as you , my phone has been acting weird since sunday and every 1 i know who is on ee has been having the same trouble , apparently theres nothing wrong with east dulwich but obviously there is , the minute i travel out of dulwich my phone works perfect

I get no EE (T Mobile / Orange) service across great swathes of S London, including E Dulwich and Streatham. It's crap and it's been like it since I switched providers just before Christmas. I'm really regretting changing. And my iPhone keeps losing the 3G signal.

Is Vodaphone the network with the best coverage, overall?

No. I have both vodaphone and t-mobile and can't get a vodaphone signal at all in my home.

I've been on a contract phone with Tmobile for 18 months now and had no problems until the last few days and exactly as described above. Last night I had a full strength signal but my call kept dropping. There's definitely something going on and it's not our handsets.

If the Voda Forest Hill Road microwave tower saga (see threads passim) is anything to go by, it will take an age for the carrier to admit to a problem, let alone fix it.

It may help to pray-in-aid this thread to show that the problem is real and general.

I harassed T-Mobile because of this issue and was told by a manager that there are two masts down in our area.

I have been sent a booster box that I can plug into my modem and this is supposed to help with the signal in my house, but not a lot of use outside.

The booster box is free and you should all demand one, because the guy I spoke to said the masts will not be fixed for ages.

Doing a bit of digging on mobile phone forums and found this....

Apparently on the old network infrastructure, T-Mobile & Orange masts where literally positioned right next to each other, these masts were errected before Orange & T-Mobile became a single carrier.

EE have now decided to streamline the service and remove masts from locations where two are within close proximity, this seems to be what is causing issues.

And this

I spoke to EE who denied there were any problems. I then spoke to one of their technical team and was told yes there are issues as when TMobile and orange became EE they had so many masts located next to one another that they have started to remove them without upgrading the mast left in situ and the network is struggling. He said it will all be resolved eventually and any issues of signal loss need to be reported to the technical team and not the customer service team as they will deny deny deny!

Ok looking through it seems that EE are doing work, removing masts etc, and that 4G has compromised 3G and 2G signal reception (so it looks like a problem set to last for months). EE have told staff to deny it (of course)....

Looks like my best plan would be to demand Tmobile move me to a 4G connection free of charge, or force them to cancel my contract with no penalties.

Just found out that the mast on Dawson's Hill will be back on next Thursday and the smaller one in Landells Road will be off for another 3 weeks.

I've just got my signal booster box set up at home and I'll let you know if that fixes my reception problems.

    • One more while I'm here, although more of the way a word is used, and whilst possibly pedantic it really does annoy me!! "Dilemma" Constantly used to describe any tricky decision, but the definition is a decision with only two options, both of which will have an equally bad outcome.  So a choice of whether to have cake, ice cream or chocolate is NOT A DILEMMA!!! See also "Decimate", which means to reduce by 10%, not just general widespread destruction... 😖
    • So sorry to hear this, makes me so angry that some scumbag thinks they can just take someone's transport, freedom, enjoyment away, and there's so little chance of them being caught or punished adequately.  If you haven't already, register it on BikeRegister and change the status to stolen, hopefully if any responsible person considers buying it then they'll check there first.  Report it to the Police - very little chance they're able to do anything, but it's important for the stats, which may eventually provoke action by the gov? Set up search alerts on Gumtree, eBay & Facebook Marketplace, but try to be as generic as possible - often they are listed as just "road bike" rather than the exact model.  I've also printed out flyers and dropped off at local bike shops in case the bike is brought in for repairs, but not sure how worthwhile that was. Hope this helps...
    • John has done a fantastic job plastering our bedroom. He boarded the ceiling & window bay then plastered both and the two remaining walls.  He always turns up on time and gets straight down to work, and leaves the room clean & tidy after. I thoroughly recommend John for any plastering work.
