The signs say nothing about term time as far as I can see so yeah, the council would then stand to make money from fines related to restrictions that were put in to deal with school term-related concerns. Perhaps Southwark has a department of “and they wonder why they don’t like or trust us”?

Well the TMO states term time only as does the Southwark schools streets page. I’m generally fairly down on Southwark but I doubt they’d do something so cynically unlawful.

I agree the closures are badly placed and will trap traffic. In the consultation and directly to the highways team (copying my local councillors) I suggested bringing the closure back to the corner of Nutbrook or at least advanced warning signs further up Adys and Nutbrook. Unfortunately I was ignored.

Just to add that fines are being implemented in the summer holidays as well, contrary to the information provided by the council earlier. Maybe it is possible to challenge them?

Hi, I just wondered what people's thoughts are on appealing PCNs? I always remember to check the time when I am driving down i.e. from Oglander road towards Crystal Palace Road but I just forgot when going back home the other way - it was only just 2 mins after 3pm.

On the one hand I get it, them's the rules, just shut up and pay the fine. On the other hand, why should I pay £65 to the council to keep a road clear that didn't even have any children on it or any parents or any sign of activity? It was totally deserted so why do I have to pay soooooo much for the privilege of driving down it?!

Don't mean to start a big debate, just looking for some thoughts on whether it is worth appealing and if so what to say?!

Thanks

I understand your frustration seemster! Most schools don’t finish until 3.30pm so you would think you could drive as normal along a local street before this time but alas no. Once the school streets have been set in motion by Southwark Labour then I’m afraid there’s nothing you can do and sadly I would say to you to pay the fine. The Dulwich Village system is the same since it started and people living and driving as normal have been bombarded with the local Labour councillors’ ideas and regulations and carers and family members are affected.
I’m in the process of appealing a PCN at the Morrison’s car park in Camberwell at the moment and awaiting a reply. I have proof I paid at the ticket machine so that’s the only reason I’m appealing.

Nick is also a pilgrim having completed the Via Francigena, a huge undertaking. Whilst not as famous as the Camino Santiago de Compostela, it is enormously long! And turned Nick into an author too. Nick ran the settlement project Bede House for almost twenty years. Through the work of Community TV Trust I came to know Bede really well and loved it. Bede combined a youth project, a very successful unit that addressed domestic violence, and a third working with local learning-disabled adults. For this latter project, Bede was honoured in 2008 with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. In all respects this is a heart-warming hour.
