Hallo! I have 8 years of experience as a qualified secondary school German teacher and 4 years as the Head of Languages department. I have taught many GCSE and A Level students and have an excellent track record of successful results. I have also acted as a German GCSE and A Level examiner on many occasions so I am well-versed in the exams process and exactly how to get the best grades.

Whether you need a boost before the exams, a particular skill like speaking or writing improved or you are missing content and confidence I can help you fill the gaps and achieve that result!

If you are not studying for exams and are seeking a tutor for a different purpose, I am happy to chat about your needs and see if I am the right fit. I did my BA degree in German at the University of Bristol so I would happily take on any university students wishing to improve or have some 1:1 sessions alongside their studies or are looking for some help with assignments. Similarly, if you are just looking for some basic German for work or travel I am happy to help prepare you. Having lived in both Austria and Germany and travelling there regularly to visit family I have a lot of real-world experience as well.

I like to tailor my lessons to your likes and interests and (once we’ve met) we can establish together the best approaches to your learning.

I am happy to do in person (I live in SE15) or online tutoring and currently have plenty of availability. Please PM me if you are interested.

Danke! Saskia

Hi Saskia, I'm looking for a German teacher as my daughter now lives in Germany and looks like she's staying, so I thought I better get at least an intermediate level of German for when I visit! I've been teaching myself over the past few weeks (using Michel Thomas recordings and Quizlet) but I think one-to-one lessons could give me a boost. I'd be looking to start in September. Maybe we could have a chat on the phone? Thank you. I live in SE22 and would be looking for mainly in-person teaching but perhaps the occasional online lesson for when I'm not in London. Thank you, Neil.

    • I would check that you have in fact been switched over to paying on usage rather than the old fixed rate system with an annual increase. We had a meter installed 18 months ago but had to request paying on metered consumption.
    • Does anyone know if the above is taking place this year. Can't seem to find it mentioned anywhere?   Simon
    • Hello, with the weather improving, I thought I would flag up the free access to leisure centres in southwark. 1. If you are experiencing poor mental and physical health and live in the borough, the GP exercise referral service allows up to three months of free use of leisure centers. There are three levels of support, and you can even refer yourself. read more for more info: Kickstart, Active Boost and Cardiactive - Everyone Health Southwark   2. If you don't have challenges with physical ands mental health, you can access the free swim and gym for a year. for more info: Free swim & gym eligibility requirements – Leisure Facilities in Southwark 3. Are you a blue badge holder? you can apply for the AD Permit, a virtual payment which allows disabled drivers to part on single and double yellow lines without the need of displaying a blue bae in the windscreen. there is also information for disabled residents to use the Low Traffic Neighborhood (LTNs) around the borough.  Exemptions for Blue Badge holders | Southwark Council Want more information? use the councils website: www.southwark.gov.uk
    • I am about to tomorrow. I only just realised after asking some neighbours today. Agreed that smaller households should of course pay less, like discounted council tax bills for those on benefits for example. However as our bills have gone up astronomically generally in the last few years, I do feel hardworking families are being penalised... also avid gardeners will be penalised in the summer when gardens are watered no doubt.
