Hi Aquariholics!!! Here's an event NOT TO BE MISSED!!!! Just check out the attached poster (now slightly amended!!

Location: Aquarius Golf Club, Marmora Road, Honor Oak, London SE22 0RY. Local street parking is all unlimited. Local buses - 63, 363, P13. Local rail: Honor Oak Park station, Peckham Rye station (then a 63 or 363 bus)

A great afternoon and evening of live music, including an awesome array of the very best local talent, as well as a couple of travelling heroes. We will have 2 stages indoors in the Golf Club. In the bar, acoustic solo performances from Rock Guitar Legend Steve Boltz Bolton (Atomic Rooster, The Who, Belinda Carlisle, Paul Young, Dave Gilmour... the credits are endless) and new local hero Louis Vann Johnson, a young singer/songwriter with a prodigious talent, who has spent the last 3 years touring Europe with International Soul singer Patrice, and has recently caused a stir at Radio 1).

On the hall stage, we welcome internationally renowned who Slapped John, playing a set of original, beautifully written rock/pop songs, followed by Andy Kershaw's favourite Country band, Country Dirt, and a killer closing set by the awesome Bruise, rated as one of thge country's great live acts.

It promises to be a brilliant day of music, sunshine (hopefully), and family fun. If you love your music live, then Aquarius Golf Club is the place to be!!! Amazingly friendly bar and astonishingly affordable prices, and a line up of talent that any summer festival would be proud of.

Admission is absolutely FREE!!!

So if you love the Festival (which is coming again on August 31st), come and show your support for local live music at our May Bank Holiday blast.

All of the bands are giving up their time for no fee, so a bucket will be passed round at the end of each set to show your undoubted and awesome gratitude for the amazing variety of live sounds you will enjoy.

Come one, come all. It's all indoors, so the weather doesn't matter. If there is a sunset, Aquarius Golf Club is one of the best locations to watch the orange ball drop to the horizon, over the vista of our great city. Share with your friends, bring a crowd, bring the family. Let's ROCK the May Bank Holiday!!!!

Videos of some of the performers to follow.

See you all there!!!!

Now that's what I call a great afternoon's/evening's entertainment.

All completely free, with great views (if it's nice & sunny) and the best sunset in SE London. Bring your friends and family and enjoy one of the best day's live music happening in SE London this side of the amazing Aquarius Festival.

A brief bit of detail about who Slapped John. Really looking forward to this set - the opening set on the hall stage.

Having already recorded 2 albums under the name Who Slapped John,

singer/ songwriter Allan Evans has turned his hand to performing the

material with this recently formed band, and they?re already making

waves with their performances.

Anyone familiar with Who Slapped John will know that the music is

eclectic to say the least, and this is what an audience can expect

from a live performance from the band.

Although the material covers a whole spectrum of musical genres, from

country to funk to acoustic rock, it is all held together by Evans?s

songwriting sensibility..strong melodies complimented by interesting

musical passages.

Just listened to two who Slapped John CDs/albums, and they are like a cross between Pink Floyd and the Pet Shop Boys - and eclectic sound indeed!

Steve Boltz is a great performer on his own or with his amazing band, the New White Trash.

Louis Vann Johnson is capturing all sorts of music industry attention for his outrageous talent as a musician, singer and songwriter.

Country Dirt are a breath of country bluegrass air, with the bewitching Marriane fronting the band.

Bruise are one of the best live acts you'll see. Guaranteed.

Don't waste your time thinking about what to do on Saturday 25th. Spend it wisely at Aquarius Golf Club.

If you've got any energy after the afternoon and evening's live music, you could mosey on down to the Rose to watch the live boxing on the big screen afterwards.

A great local pub, doing the very best for the local community.

Hi everyone!

As many of you know, this is the 4th year that we've held a live music festival at Aquarius Golf club, one of the coolest locations in London. As those of you who attend the festival know, it only costs ?1.00 for adults to get in and enjoy 20 or so live performances on 2 stages. Hopefully we'll see many of you there, and also at our 'Festival Primer' tomorrow - see 'What's on in ED' thread for more about that.

This is a call for help that involves no additional cost or intrusion. As a part of our fundraisng for Aquarius Festival this year, we have approached a number of estate agents in East Dulwich. To reward them for sponsoring/investing in the Festival, they would like to put up boards around the area that serve as advertising for them, and also advertisning for the festival.

The boards would go up at the beginning of August, and the festival is at the end of August, on Saturday 31st.

Are there any Aquarius Festival fans out there who would volunteer to have a board outside their house for just a month?

The greater the response to this, the better the funding for the Festival, and, consequently, the event will get better and better year on year.

At the end of the day your support will be entirely free, and non-intrusive, but would also be helping to raise the funds we need to keep Aquarius Festival running as the Biggest Little Festival in London.

For security/privacy sake, if you are able to join in the fun, please PM me with your address, so I can pass it on to the 'winning' estate agent. But also, if you're in, please leave the message 'I'm in' on this thread. That will keep it fizzing at the top of this area on the forum.

I know East Dulwich is full of music lovers and live music supporters, as well as many of the amazing artists that we bring to the community at Aquarius Festival, and I really hope you will all show your support by joining in this cause.

Thank you, in anticipation of your ongoing support!!

Peace & Love

Many thanks for organising a lovely little festival primer there Brian all the acts were amazing but in particular was knocked out by Bruised UK, Louis Vann Johnson and Country Dirt - and bought the CD's from Bruised and Louis. The sound was brilliant too. Only slight gripe was those folk that seem to like talking when the acts are on. In the main bar I appreciate there will be some regulars who probably don't welcome their bar being taken over but in the main venue tis no excuse !

Have PM's you for a board if that will help. Many thanks to you , your sound man and all involved for a great afternoon and evening.

Thanks for the very kind words, which I will pass on to the bands.

I can't stop people talking - although I do agree that it's a little impolite. Live acts are used to it.

Watch this space, as there may be another primer gig for local main stage contenders in July.

A sort of 'Battle of the Bands'.

Hope to see you soon - at the next event, and thanks for mentioning the board support!

Anyone out there who'd like to show their support for Aquarius Festival by having an estate agent board advertising the Festival, please go to the General ED issues/gossip section, and opt in by following the oh so easy instructions.

Thanks to everyone that made Saturday such a success - especially all of outr first time visitors - we hope to see you again!!!

Global issues all play their own parts (as they do with other countries) but the UK govt had  been especially abject for years. Improvements could not be made with them in power.
