Fence putter-upper, and he does other stuff as well!

Recommended Posts

I was looking for someone to put up 5 metres of fencing and I searched the forum. I found a post that responded to someone else's enquiry for the same thing, specifying they wanted a 'real-world' price as supposed to crazy ED prices and someone had responded to that so I got them round to quote. They quoted a very high day's labour charge for TWO people to put up this little bit of fence, which I found ridiculous, so I carried on looking. I got a PM from TandTGardening and Tom senior (they're two Tom's who work together) came round and quoted for the job. He seemed like a very decent chap and his quote was very reasonable, not expensive, not cheap- just fair. I was a bit worried at first that I couldn't find many recc's for them on here but in the end I thought, 'what the heck, 70% of the recc's I've used have been dreadful anyway'. So, Tom came round and did a very good job, polished the lot off in 5 hours with no fuss at all, picked up all the necessary materials, cemented the posts in etc etc- which makes it even more ridiculous that the other bloke tried to say it needed two guys together for a whole day. So, my new fence looks very nice and is holding up perfectly in the windy weather and I have no hesitation in recommending Tom. He says his son does the gardening stuff and he does the 'heavier' jobs which involve a bit of building skill with the cement etc.

    • We went there yesterday for lunch, which was really delicious and excellent value. A starter plus a main is £11.95 for their "lunchtime special". Just a main is £8.95. We had excellent gyozas to start, then I had pad thai and my partner had a stir fry, both with tofu. They were large helpings,  freshly cooked, with fresh veg. There is the option to have chicken or beef (prawns are £2 extra) Also they now have Thai beer (Singha) on draught or in bottles (previously it was being your own alcohol). The service was also good. We were sorry and surprised not to see more people in there, particularly as there was a match on. It is really worth the short walk from Lordship Lane!
