As requested, I'm lumping all the clues together.

1) A real person portrayed in a novel and on the big screen

2) This is definitely not a case of 'out of sight, out of mind!'

3) He wanted to paint the town red.

New clue:

Could his tipple have been a 'shot' of vodka?

Well done edw.

Vasily Zaytsev.

1) A real person portrayed in a novel and on the big screen.

Novel = War Of The Rats by David L. Robbins

Movie = Enemy At The Gates

2) This is definitely not a case of 'out of sight, out of mind!'

During the famous sniper battle in the book & movie, the German was never in his sight but always on his mind.

3) He wanted to paint the town red.

He was part of The Red Army at Stalingrad

4) Could his tipple have been a 'shot' of vodka?

It probably was! Considering he was a Russian sniper.

    • In nearly new condition, without signs of wear and tear. Can collect in Dulwich Village and nearby in North Dulwich on most days, promptly. Seeking a few of these items.
    • I had this in B&M the other day. The price ticket said £1 and £1.25 was crossed out. They refused to give me the items at £1 and when I complained to head office, they said it was at the shop’s discretion! Apparently the offer had expired and so the items were scanning at the full price!
