I wouldn't worry about it. Steve knows he wants an author, and authors generally know if they are one, so let them sort it out between them. My own guess, fwiw, seeing that Steve advertises as a gardener/decorator, is that he needs one as an ornamental feature, along the lines of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_hermit.
