Dulwich Folk on 5th February : Ewan Macdonald and Alastair Caplin at the Castle , Crystal Palace Road

Recommended Posts

Ewan and Alastair are stalwarts of the Band of Burns supergroup. Hailing respectively from the Isle of Lewis and Strathpeffer in Scotland, Alastair Caplin (The Langan Band, Band of Burns) and Ewan Macdonald (Root & Branch, Band of Burns) take audiences on an evocative and varied journey through the music of Scotland.

Expect a mix of blisteringly fast tune sets with heart- wrenchingly beautiful laments on fiddles, guitar, mandolin and bouzouki. Gaelic song from the duo’s native Gàidhealtachd also feature heavily in the set, with poignant harmonium-accompanied Òrain Mòra (‘great songs’) interspersed with rapid tongue-twisting pùirt-a-beul (Gaelic mouth-music).

We also continue tonight with our tradition of inviting musicians from the local Scottish music group , which is led by Andy Clark from Shotley Crue, to join in the night to help make it a real celebration , not just of Burns but a lot of unforgettable music and song.

Doors open at 7 . Music from 7.30 ( Overture session from 7.20)

Entrance £12
