I've been finding it very strange that people have gone out of their way to buy trees only to have them strewn along the sidewalk as early as the 2nd day of Christmas... Is it not common knowledge that Christmas is a 12 day event, & that we are only half way through it?

There are a number of 'endings' to the Christmas season, one of the oldest being after 40 days, (a period to match that of Lent)

Most recently the 12 days of Christmas, ending on January 5th is the most common one, but that is most recently. January 1st is also one. Since the majority of people in the UK are no longer practicing Christians (based on the census) - you can end it when you like!

    • Our cat Booboo has been missing since early Sunday morning (09 March).   He's a three-year-old male cat with black fur (short).    He's recognisable from having very big feet - I think about two extra toes on each paw.   He's very nervous of strangers and doesn't go out the front of our house - he mainly hangs out in the back gardens on our block (Goodrich/Barry/Friern Road).   If you spot him please let us know (07771915355).

    • That's useful, thank you - I've got a Primark near my work. Primark is (perhaps surprisingly) also one of the most diligent when it comes to labour rights in the supply chain, and I have to say the bits I've had from there have been quite good quality and lasted a long time. But otoh it's still fast fashion I suppose.
