Sally Eva
Seasons Greeting to everyone. Remember cycling is the best way to burn off some of the calories you will be consuming. To help you we have 2 rides for holiday period, one on Boxing Day and one on New Years Eve. Please be sure to register on Eventbrite for Dec 31st as numbers will be limited to 12. If you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Even at the last minute it is worth cancelling (How to cancel). It is also helpful if you register for the Boxing Day ride, but not so critical. If at the last minute you fancy joining, feel free to turn up. Dec 26th. The City on Boxing Day < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/boxing-day-southwark-healthy-ride-tickets-491342377277 > Werner leading his famed Boxing Day Ride. Meet 10am Southwark Gateway Needle, SE corner of London Bridge, top of Duke St Hill, close to London Bridge Station. Approx 2 hour easy-paced ride. Should be very little traffic and forecast is OK. Will explore bits of the City, including some narrow passages normally too busy with pedestrians. So come along and work up an appetite for lunch. Dec 31st. Henry Moore Sculptures Ride < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/henry-moore-sculptures-cycle-ride-tickets-491334383367 > Please note different start & end points. Timing: Start 10h00, finish 13h30 Start: Archbishop's Park, Royal Street/Lambeth Palace Road junction (opposite St Thomas's Hospital Emergency Dept.) End: Kennington Park Cafe Distance: 13.78 miles / 22.18 km Ride info from Jane who will be leading. Your chance to end 2022 with some improving culture! This ride follows a route across Vauxhall Bridge and mostly through central London to look at 8 works created by the sculptor Henry Moore. We will return via South Kensington and Chelsea, visiting "Three Standing Figures" in Battersea Park and ending with a surprise (for some) on the Brandon Estate near Kennington Park. Be prepared for a bit of stop/start riding as we'll be hearing brief facts about each sculpture and there will be a coffee stop at some point. We should finish by 13h30 and I can direct people back to Southwark destinations from Kennington Park if required. https://gb.mapometer.com/cycling/route_5148989.html Note. Ride reports, often with photos and route maps, are posted to the Southwark Cyclists web site, 2022 index at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2022/. These rides are part of the Healthy Riders group, organised by Bruce Lynn on behalf of Southwark Cyclists https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/. Like everything else we do, our activities are all free. We co-operate with other London Cycling Campaign groups like Greenwich Cyclists. The LCC details are here: https://lcc.org.uk/.
