It's a tough one. With me it just came down to deciding a "spec" of diamond and style of ring, and traipsing round the shops for a few hours to see who could provide it at the best price. Avoiding anywhere that looked too bling. I will try to find out the name of the shop if you like...

Jay's jewellers are great. On Hatton Garden. They did a really good deal on making platinum rings for our civvy p. Very helpful and reasonable.

I went to County Jewellers 20 years ago for an engagement ring and I went back recently for another ring and they are still there. I also used the Wedding Ring shop who have also been there over 20 years - just across the road from each other.

Not in Hatton Gardens, but we used Harriet Kelsall. Really, really pleased. They have a heap of one-off rings, or will design something for you.

I've used Arlington's a couple of times and they were great. They were very helpful with my purchasing decision (when I first went in I wasn't really sure what I was after, other than a diamond ring, of course). Not pushy at all.
