Hello,

It’s been years since I’ve posted on this forum but I’m hoping that someone might be able to help.

My daughter is 14 and really wants to start playing football. I feel bad that’s it’s not something she got into earlier but she never seemed interested.

I’m looking for a relaxed girls group where she will feel comfortable learning to play and isn’t too competitive. Does such a thing exist?

Alternatively, I had thought about trying to organise a group myself but would need to find somewhere to play and some other like minded girls.

Thanks for your help.

Maybe try Girls United who are local and run some mixed age sessions at Alleyns, they say it’s for all levels of experience, but if it’s not the place for a 14 year old beginner I’m sure they’d tell you and maybe point you in the right direction! I’m involved in a different sport and have come across the Girls United guys at one of our shared grounds, they seem like a nice bunch.

Good luck!

    • My annoyance Is with the fact that the gym is being closed for 5 weeks for refurbishment but we dont have an option to freeze our membership if the only facility we use is the gym. Apparently Peckham gym is closed at the same time for refurbishment which I think is pretty stupid. Therefore the nearest gym for all the members from ED leisure centre and Peckham leisurecentre is the one in Camberwell . I lament the everyone active days..at least I could attend gyms near to work and outside Southwark
