Next Tuesday will see Abellio London bus drivers strike over a pay dispute.

In SE22, Routes 63 and P13 won't be operating, along with Route 3 in West Dulwich on November 22nd, 25th and 26th.

The strikes will continue throughout December on 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 December.

Route 363 which is operated by another bus company will continue to operate along Forest Hill Road and Peckham Rye while residents especially on Underhill Road will have no bus service on those days.

It’ll be nice to have a few days relief from the aggressive and dangerous driving of the P13 staff causing absolute carnage on the back roads of E.Dulwich.

I've also experienced quite hair raising journeys on the P13 travelling between the stop before the lights near Cox's Walk and the stop at Crystal Palace Road.

Particularly at night, some of the drivers go at dangerously high speeds, in my opinion.

More disruption planned

"Strike action is planned by Abellio and Metroline drivers in December.

This disruption will occur on the following dates:

Thursday 1 to Saturday 3 December

Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 December

Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 December

Routes affected by the Abellio strike action are mostly in west and south London, while routes affected by the Metroline strike action are mostly in west, northwest and north London.

Both Abellio and Metroline routes will be affected by strike action from Thursday 1 to Saturday 3, Friday 9 and Friday 16 December.

On Thursday 8 and Thursday 15 December, only Abellio routes will be affected by strike action. On Saturday 10 and Saturday 17 December, only Metroline routes will be affected by strike action.

During this time, please plan ahead, check before you travel and leave more time for your journey.

We encourage customers to take appropriate action to keep themselves safe, including wearing face coverings, if it helps you travel with confidence.

P13 and 363 on diversion due to Thames water works at junction of Underhill rd and Melford rd from 12/12 - 16/12.

I got caught out on the P13 return trip from DKH Sainsbury's at lunch time today, further inconvenience to those that rely on these services, although earlier had got the P13 towards DKH Sainsburys from Langton Rise/Underhill Road stop.

Taken from TfL website;

"UNDERHILL ROAD, SE22: Route P13 is on diversion from 08:00 on Tuesday 13 December until 20:00 on Friday 16 December due to Thames Water works. Buses are diverted via Lordship Lane and Barry Road, missing the stops Whateley Road and Crystal Palace Road in both directions.

MELFORD ROAD, DULWICH: Route P13 is on diversion between Dulwich Common/Lordship Lane Estate and North Cross Road via Lordship Lane due to a burst water main. Buses are not serving the stops Underhill Road/Melford Road, Belvoir Road, Langton Rise, Dunstans Road, Friern Road, Crystal Palace Road and Whateley Road.

MELFORD ROAD, DULWICH: Routes 363 and N63 are on diversion between Peckham Rye/The Gardens and Lordship Lane/Wood Vale via Barry Road and Lordship Lane due to a burst water main. Buses are not serving the stops Friern Road, Dunstans Road, Therapia Road, Wood Vale/Forest Hill Road, Langton Rise, Melford Road, Underhill Road/Melford Road and Underhill Road."

Where is the burst water main (this time)?

Same place as it's burst and been repaired at least twice before.

I would really appreciate someone from Thames water explaining why repairs only seem to last a few months before they go again. There are several leaks in this area that have been repaired at least three times.

...AND this is a stretch where entirely new mains were installed (over a number of weeks of disruption) - down Woodvale, across Melford into the lower (southern) portion of Underhill. This isn't about breaches in an old main, but in a new installation. When they first installed it they also breached the adjacent gas main (well done that man!) which took a couple of weeks to fix.

Thames Water should be being regularly fined for avoidable road chaos - jobs such as this should only need to be done once unless disrupted by 3rd parties - i.e. other utilities - as they did to the gas distribution network. TW is a disgrace!

Further strike dates reported by TfL

"Strike action is planned by Abellio drivers from Wednesday 1 until Friday 3 February, which is expected to affect 60 bus routes, mostly in west and south London.

This is in addition to the strikes already announced for tomorrow (Wednesday 25th) and Thursday 26 January."

There were a few buses running but how many who knows. Why can local cllrs not put up correct information on the forum. The whole thing is a joke. Perhaps Khan the magnificent could offer his Range Rover to help people who need to shop?

If you are elderly you have no chance.

Councillors don't run the buses and don't oversee TfL. The most accurate information will be on the TfL website or via the 24 hour helpline: 0343 222 1234.

Maybe the millionaire owners of Abellio could offer their cars to passengers stranded by their refusal to pay bus drivers a decent wage?

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/aug/24/dutch-state-railway-to-sell-abellio-in-uk-management-buyout

The P13 had four out of eight buses out during the day which meant half of the drivers allocated to the route were out for part of the day. The 63 had 8 buses out.

Incidentally, Abellio will replace Go-Ahead London on the 363 from November 30th, so if this strike action continues for that long, Forest Hill Road will either have a very reduced service or nothing at all with the 63 already being run by them.
