re: pricing

The options appear to be:

lower prices to the public, and keep landlords on similar margins to the pubco days

Keep prices the same and allow landlords to make a living and encourage them to stay in the business

Can't help but feel there is a wider societal lesson there somewhere

I think there is too, but we may not agree on what it is. I think the lesson is that lots of small(ish) independent businesses freely competing with each other will provide a better product, and be more responsive to changing customer demands, than huge plcs. Whether landlords make a living (and some still won't) should depend on their own hard work and enterprise - and they'll decide what price is right for the product they offer.

IPA just rolls off and the tongue

Whereas African Sorghum is hard enough sober, imagine when you've had a few

*currently in a bar drinking Grimbergen Blond, very nice it is too

I think a lot of places make an IPA as a default beer as it's solid but you will find most breweries have at least 4 beers on their books that are varied in style and flavour. Jeremy, you are right the American Pale ales do very well especially as they are quite fruity with their hoppyness. Most breweries know they need to satisfy growing tastes and that's great news for beer fans as loads of new beers are coming onto the scene. O

Been drinking a fruity Zwickl (unfiltered lager) but the cold spell has led to a dark and malty Rauchsbier - a smoked Porter. Very good with garlic soup.

Without risking the wrath of admin my site I posted about the other day has a load of styles from London breweries and has more set to come in the new year. If anyone has any recommendations or additions they would like to see please let me know - I will see what I can do.

    • I live in a flat conversion and we had also the water meters installed, last year. However, TW workers did not check properly which meter belongs to each flat and they connected us incorrectly. My meter was connected to 2 flats so my usage was unusually high and I had usage when I was away from home. We had to call TW to come out and amend the meters which was a pain to do.  Maybe you need to check with TW if you are connected correctly and not to other properties. You can also see your usage online.
