Beware of penalty charge notice

Recommended Posts

Ive treated myself to a new car not two weeks ago... today pops into my post box a penalty charge notice, for being in a queue of traffic (surprise, surprise) on Lordship lane for my back wheels being in a yellow box! Near the Bishop and east dulwich grove

Its my fault from the pictures, but just FYI big brother is always watching!

took the shine of the joy of a new car.. thats for sure!

I have sat in the Bishop and outside the Bishop and watched people being caught out.

The problem is there is a crossing Before the junction. So when the lights go green for the

motorist and they pull forwards across the crossing and into the 'Box' and then someone turns

left out off East Dulwich Grove they block the exit from the box. (Caught on Camera)

If when the lights go green the driver pulls forward and stops befor the box.. they find themselves

blocking the crossing. (Caught on Camera)..

You cannot win..

Yet another deliberate clever ploy to catch motorists.. and Only that.

Indeed, I actually blocked a yellow box on my driving test and still passed, precisiely because someone turned in infront of me blocking the space that existed as I pulled into the box. Unless they have video evidence, they will find it extremely difficult to charge you and they know it. Refuse to pay on these grounds.

Was driving along Beckenham high road at the weekend and the same thing happened to me. There was one space beyond the yellow box, I crossed, then a Porsche turned into the sapce and left me hanging. I politely let the driver know he'd nutmegged me (shrug of shoulders) and he gave me a furious finger in return, then over-revved big time in pulling away (inevitably to brake hard about 10 yards down the road). I just don't get these guys.

Agreed, just ignore the troll. I would consider appealing though based on the other comments.

My plan too.

problem is if you don't see it coming due to chaos on the road

( I was driving through Loampit Vale the other day and it

was a free for all - won't be going back there). How do the

cameramen react to chaos - penalise everybody.

    • Roads should be roads and pavements be pavements.  All the changes to the roads only keep traffic on them for longer.
    • Earl, what are your thoughts on the council shipping those lovely pavement tiles from India (rather than Yorkshire) to use to adorn your beloved square...any concerns that this will have had an necessarily negative impact on the environment? Is that not a little hypocritical? BTW I actually preferred the Square in its previous form before this huge amount of tax-payers money was wasted on it - it now looks like a huge bright concrete landing pad and I am not sure the area looks any nicer for it. It all feels a bit Milton Keynes and I think is out of character with the rest of the Village.
    • Just back from a swim at Dulwich Leisure Centre.  Whilst in the pool, we saw the lobby outside the family changing room being washed,  The person doing the cleaning then washed the mats taken from the family changing room and then put them in the pool, laying them on the steps!!!.  Not only was this dangerous - they were laid on the top step in such a way that they overlapped the step -  when we got out  there was a load of grit on the top step where they were taken out. When we got changed, I asked at the desk to speak to the manager.  Guess who it was??? The guy who had been doing the cleaning!!!!  I said I was actually complaining about what he had done with the mats ie, dumping them in the pool.  His response - 'Did I dump them too aggressively for you?'  When I said I thought it was unhygienic to put the mats in the pool , his response was that he had actually cleaned them, but had put them in the pool to remove the residual cleaning fluid!!!!!  I don't know what's worse - having cleaning fluid dumped in the pool or the dirt!  He also asked how I knew the dirt in the pool was from the mats??? Wonderful customer service!  I won't be going back in a hurry!
    • Charming. Why was it at the bus stop?
