Otta
Apple make good gear. There is just something especially unlikeable about the company IMO. The feature leakage is a good example, it doesn't show a company that want to give their customers the best. It shows a company that knows their loyal followers will rush out and buy each new release, then buy the same thing with a few add ons which could've gone on the original. And they could be cheaper. *Bob*
Otta, the peeps who use the high-end stuff for actual real work (as opposed to playing Boggle, sending emails and flicking themselves off) are usually quite reticent when it comes to 'rushing out' to buy a new release. I certainly don't want one or need one any time soon.If you refuse to see the innovation required to make something 8 times smaller, twice more powerful and half as quiet then you're simply allowing your Apple hatred to blind you to impressive industrial design. I like the slate and chalk idea though. Can I plug microphones into it directly or do I need some sort of interface? Will post production facilities and studios have the same slate and chalk as me, or will I need to bring my own slate and chalk in case there are problems? Back in the real world, I mean. El Pibe
The cooling is quite clever, but you can achieve much better results and much lower power usage by simply filling your pc with oil Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31398-iphone-ipad-users-are-fashion-victims/page/2/#findComment-653446 Share on other sites

I was thinking more ipad / ipod / iphone.I know quite a few graphic designers who use MACS simply because they're the best for their work. I have no problem with that, and would do the same. If I had the dosh I'd buy myself a MAC with all the music software I could get.As it is, I make to with Garage Band on an Ipod Touch 5th Gen, which works as well as an ipad, but is fiddly due to the small screen.I wish Android would up their game in the music app department, as I much prefer my S3 as a piece of kit, but so long as Apple are the only ones who can release this type of thing, you can't argue with that.I still don't like them as a company though. And I know companies are about money, but there's being about money and there's being about money. Not sure that makes any sense. El Pibe
Its not really a case of 'android' upping their game, it's a case of the Garage Band development company hiring a couple of java developers.Weirdly the barriers to entry on Apple app development are alot higher than they are for Android development. It's a lot of hassle with Apple, the licensing costs are higher and the language is a pain in the arse, whereas java developers are ten a penny, the environment is free open source and the google development key is absolutely hassle free.If there's a gap i the market maybe we should put our expertise together, god knows I have to do something once I'm in Ireland!! Otta
I dunno, I'm no techie, but I thought the issue was that Android couldn't handle the sound lag, so if you plug as guitar in to your devise there will be a lot of delay between you striking a note, and the note registering on the devise. *Bob*
Apple are evil. But then the devil always did have the best tunes. I take issue with the much-mooted cost-factor. Averaged-out over over 15 years or so and including resale of old machines, Apple's machines have cost me ?287/year. The only hardware problem I've ever had with any of them was a dodgy superdrive, which I replaced myself for ?30.?287/year! Weigh that up unfavourably against the cost of just about any other business expense you can think of.. if you can. El Pibe
THat may be the case in which case fair comment I guess.I've had a quick google and it sounds like Jelly Bean has sorted this out but only on devices which have been designed with Jelly Bean in mind, ie upgrading an older tablet/phone to the newer o/s won't solve the issues. Jeremy
I dunno, bob. For ?600 you should be able to buy a decent PC which will last you at least 3 years.I think the real arguments for buying a mac are:- you need software which is only available on a mac (hence the "creative" market)- you think it looks good Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31398-iphone-ipad-users-are-fashion-victims/page/2/#findComment-653496 Share on other sites

*Bob*
So (software argument aside - which is of course true) you really think I should ditch the ?287/year machine with a near 100% reliability record - for an unfamiliar and untried system costing ?200/year?A saving of ?87.Really? the-e-dealer
No I'm not renting the HTC or the Galaxy costs are one off. *Bob*
It's a nice idea, TED. Jeremy
Bobster - no, not suggesting anyone should do anything. Just saying that the average person who buys a mac does so because they're happy to pay a premium for something they think looks cool. This is hardly a crime, of course. It's just seems rather daft.Poor old t-e-d, getting rather muddled up again... Annette Curtain
FFSIf a carpenter needs a hammer and chooses a fekkin leather handled Estwing, costing god knows what short of ?40, then that's his/her choice.Yes other hammers are available, perfectly ok ones for ?5, perfectly ok for banging the odd nail in or hitting the thumb with. But there's not a thread about that is there. No !On a serious note: TED you are a frikkin moron, with either hammer i'd happily nail your door shut, keeping you out of reach of any comms devices.http://s7g3.scene7.com/is/image/ae235?$p$&layer=0&size=281,281&layer=1&size=281,281&src=ae235/41235_P Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31398-iphone-ipad-users-are-fashion-victims/page/2/#findComment-653519 Share on other sites
