DavidW
Can anyone tell me how Piaf in the Village stays open? Rubbish food, no-one ever there. I had such high hopes of a non-chain decent restaurant replacing the not lamented "Bella Pasta" place opposite which turned into Cafe Rouge. The chains just seem to hang onto prime sites even if loss makign in the expectation when they float or sell the site will get valued on its value to a different occupier. Pizza Express is enough chains for the village, Piaf and Cafe Rouge out please. Jah Lush
La Piaf has always been crap. I gave up on the place about four years ago and vowed never to go back. Had so many nightmares in there due to poor service, bad attitude from the staff, lousy food, or food not turning up, you name it it happened. Awful place. You'd think in a place like Dulwich Village you could have at least one decent restaurant but what do we get a load of crappy chains. And don't even start me on Beauberry House. Rubbish I tell you, RUBBISH!!! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3131-piaf-in-the-village-lounged/#findComment-97549 Share on other sites
Brendan
It has always puzzled me that Dulwich Village, which on the outside seems to have so much character, has very little in the way of establishments that actually have any real character. Guest
'Tis under the feudal sway of the Dulwich Estate, which controlleth all thing in the manor of Dulwich. Asset
Piaf is awful but it's not empty, I often see the weekend tourists filling the place up. Poor things. Cafe rouge isn't that bad, I went there for the first time a few weeks ago and it's a lot better than the dreaded Bella Pasta which was possibly even worse than Piaf. giggirl
Crap place - last time I went there was four years ago for breakfast; we complained so much they let us off the bill. It was beyond terrible. How is it still trading. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3131-piaf-in-the-village-lounged/#findComment-97722 Share on other sites
spadetownboy
piaf was good when it first opened, did a terific coq au vin rouge, but it did take a turn for the worst 4-5 years ago. i did a nostalgia trip to it on the way back from the park a few months ago, and no improvement, which is a shame because it has a great location and with a bit of tlc has tremendous potential. are you listening gordon? mattham
Oddly enough giggirl, exactly the same thing happened with me around four years ago. I always said I'd go back as the manager genuinely seemed to care about it. But I haven't. Seems I'm not missing much. jumpinjackflash
I went to Piaf for the first time yesterday for lunch. I had mussels and my old man had prawn linguni - I have to say that it was absolutely lovely and am quite surprised at the feedback it has received. Perhaps they had a temporary chef yesterday!! Also, the waiter and waitress were very nice, and as we were coming back from the park, they didn't seem to mind my slobbery mutt sitting with us outside! Anyway, I'll be back to see if my next meal is as nice. Just wanted to say something positive about it.toodle doo Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3131-piaf-in-the-village-lounged/#findComment-110245 Share on other sites
Guest
It used to be good, but for some reason whenever I go past I can't help noticing there's hardly anyone in there but the pub next door is heaving with families. Very odd. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3131-piaf-in-the-village-lounged/#findComment-110248 Share on other sites
