Jeremy
Quite right. Somebody has been viciously assaulted, some compassion is necessary here. It's not the right place for yet more discussion of bull breeds, or bizarre boasts about your kiddies. Chillaxed
Agree with the posts above. Frankly, some of the dog brigade come across as completely bonkers. ClareC
Awful incident and hope the perpetrators are caught ASAP! People like that are pathetic bullies! Although descriptive that they had a dog, I do agree it is misleading and unfair to imply the dog was part of the attack when it wasn't. Hope your Boyf recovers quickly and you get back to running in the park ASAP - I ran in the park daily for a number of years and only encountered unpleasant people (fortunately rarely and nothing like you describe). I have toddlers and dogs, it's such a shame that so many children are taught to be afraid of dogs now. Bring then up to never touch a dog unless the owner says it fine but to be scared....... Better off teaching them to be scared of people.... Far more likely to be harmed by another person! Carpgirl
Why is it pompous to say my children have not been raised in fear, the assumption on this thread is that if adults are afraid then children are generally scared of big dogs and that is what I responded to in the thread above mine, not some random bonkers rambling about my "kiddies".Perhaps you assume my children are all young and are not living proof of this theory...the eldest is 28, the youngest 11 so I feel I have the benefit of hindsight. My children HAVE been brought up to love and respect others and I know they would not dismiss another person's point of view or life experience as "utter tripe" simply because it's different to theirs.I actually am a regular member of the same running club as the author of the original post, I know all about running in the park and I will most likely know these runners so I do genuinely sympathise but I also know lots of very good, responsible dog owners and lots of "scary looking dogs" who are wonderful family pets and I am simply trying to be balanced in my view. Tony Quinn I suggest you read the thread fully and be sure you are fully informed before you rant, in actual fact TerriG makes clear the dog DID NOT attack her partner, the humans allegedly did...I'm done with this now so my last word is for Tony Quinn " Wow you wake up REALLY angry at 8:11am don't you, you might wanna work on that!" Now you can call me pompous... Loz
OK. We have parents, joggers and dog owners all laying into one another. laurajaynewoodhouse
I am actually baffled by some responses on here with regards to dogs! How many times do people have to be told it is a completely separate issue before they leave it alone?! Terig, you have explained the situation very clearly and have even clarified your points about the dog. Dog and bone spring to mind. Now you> can call me pompous...I think the reason your post has pissed people off is the " don't be scared of the nice doggie" element . It is rather presumptuous to dismiss the fears of the OP - you werent there after all. Despite the Love All Lifeforms ideal you espouse some people simply are afraid of or just don't like this particular life form. Get over it. rgutsell
Terrible experience to have.I'm a life long distance runner and sympathise completely. On the issue of the dog...it's the human that defines "frightening" not the dog, or its owner. It IS frightening to be approached by an unknown animal that may be/or may not be aggressive. ESPECIALLY if it's a "fighting breed" and the owners also look intimidating (and of course, they know it). Dog owners need to get to grips with this. Willard
Rahrahrah et al, please stop hijacking this thread with inconsequential rambling. The OP is warning the public about the 2 thugs in question and requesting witnesses to come forward. There could be important pieces of information in this bloated thread which could now get lost because people frankly can't be arsed to trawl through 4 pages of off topic BS. tiddles
Julijux, I don't think the OP was suggesting that bald men with beer bellies are usually intimidating. She describes them as having short hair. She is simply giving a description of the people who beat up her partner. I don;t think she is making a generalisation about anything or anyone. (if I have missed a paragraph somewhere, apologies) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31238-man-attacked-in-dulwich-park-today-ii30am-by-two-men-with-scary-dog/page/5/#findComment-636782 Share on other sites

James
I am outraged that you said the culprits were male! By this you are suggesting that all males are criminals. I am gravely offended. Penguin68
I think you'll find that there are far fewer sympathisers towards the rights of man than towards the rights of dog on this forum. Thomas Paine must be spinning like a top. (And, yes, I did know he meant 'mankind' but in the 18th century that (considering voting rights etc.), did pretty well mean man) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31238-man-attacked-in-dulwich-park-today-ii30am-by-two-men-with-scary-dog/page/5/#findComment-636915 Share on other sites
Clarey999
Ridiculous that a load of people on this forum instead of being sympathetic towards your plight have been trying to stick up for the dog!Hey guess what, a load of pitbull types have actually killed children and while you may all know of some lovely ones that you were brought up with etc etc, the fact remains the pitbull crosses and associated breeds are extremely powerful dogs that need responsible owners.Sorry but a couple of blokes that attack someone over a perceived slight to their dog doesn't sound like responsible owners to me. Sounds like thugs who would be more than happy to use their dog as a weapon.Yes it's not the dog's fault what they are but it is entirely fair for the people who had the awful experience in the park to tell people about it and how they perceived the dog without being ticked off!Honestly it's pathetic.
