Predictable, but still disappointing

Over the weekend, my wife took the trouble to put a collection of children's books and toys out by our front gate, for passers-by to take if they wanted to.

No charge of course, but she did leave a note asking people not to take the plastic storage box she'd put them in.

So imagine our complete lack of surprise when we got home from an evening out to find the books and toys neatly piled on our path, but no sign of the box.

East Dulwich has been gentrified out of all recognition in the 27 years we've lived here, so this was a useful reminder that the scumbags still walk among us.
