I wanted to recommend John Marx. I found his details on EDF and I wasn't disappointed. He did a wonderful job and kept the place clean in what is a very small kitchen! He replaced a section of my worktop around the sink after it had rotted; John told me it had been due to there not being a seal around the base of my kitchen tap, which had allowed water to seep over several years into my worktops. Additional recommendation for John and Gabi. Great communication and service before and throughout and thrilled with the end result at a very reasonable cost. He was a really honest and friendly guy that made the whole experience all the more easy.

John fitted our Handmade Kitchens Direct (which I would also recommend) kitchen which was a first for both of us but John was great in dealing with the one or two issues that we had with fitting. John also helped do a few extra bits that went above and beyond the original fit that really helped to give us the finished product we had hoped.

John Marx of 'Top Marx' recently fitted our new kitchen in Dulwich Village. The kitchen units were bought relatively cheaply from DIY Kitchens, but John's expert fitting means the end result looks superb. John also made custom components for us, including a bespoke boiler cupboard. John was an absolute pleasure to have in the house and went above and beyond to help us to get the result we wanted. His advice was excellent and John was also able to recommend other local tradesmen to help with our electrics and redecoration. John charges very fairly for his work - perhaps too fairly! Another recommendation for John, who has just fitted my new Howdens kitchen in Peckham. John recommended the Penge branch of Howdens, and the whole process from planning to fitting was straightforward and as stressfree as possible. John is friendly and honest, and dealt with some last minute changes that I made to the plans with no fuss. Gabi is also great at communicating and responding quickly to questions. I?m very pleased with the outcome of the kitchen fitting and wouldn?t hesitate to recommend John.

I cannot recommend John Marx enough for the work he did on our kitchen refit. He and his partner Gabi were a pleasure to deal with through out. They helped us navigate delays due to the pandemic and were extremely thorough and understanding.

John blitzed through the work with a professional and can do attitude and no job was too much effort. He carried our old kitchen down three flights of stairs and fitted the new kitchen to a high spec. He came back multiple times to troubleshoot a few issues and always approached every task with a positive attitude and wouldn't stop until the job was perfect.

It was a pleasure to have John around... we even enjoyed his loud singing.

I wanted to add to the positive words on and recommendations of John and Gabi Marx who re-fitted our kitchen at the end of last year. They were such a pleasure to work with; incredibly responsive, lovely to speak to and they went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy with our kitchen. Everything was delivered to schedule [which I'm sure isn't the norm] so that we could be using our new kitchen as soon as possible. It was finished to a high quality and we couldn't be happier!

John also provided a list of recommended tradespeople who all similarly showed pride in their work and were easy to work with. During the kitchen refit itself, John was brilliant at managing the work schedule and making sure that everyone stays on track.

John fitted our kitchen at the beginning of February and did a great job despite a few issues with our supplier (Howdens, West Norwood).

Communication, both before and during the whole process, was excellent and everything was finished on time giving us a kitchen we're very happy with.

And another recommendation for John and Gabi! Our project was completed at the start of this month and Gabi's communication in lining up the work was excellent. Our job was a relatively small one that involved replacing some of the units in our utility room but it was quite fiddly, with little space to work and a jumble of existing pipes to work around. In addition to installing new cabinets, counter and sink, John custom-made a small cupboard to cover some of the pipework.

It was a pleasure to have John around for a few days. He also generously gave us a hand a few weeks before the project's start date. We discovered that our washing machine was leaking and John came over at very short notice to help us disconnect the appliance so that the space could dry out ahead of the main work. We wholeheartedly recommend John and Gabi.

Another recommendation for John and Gabi. John finished our kitchen re-fresh this week. We are so glad we found him. Before we booked he came over twice to help us decide what was the most cost effective way to upgrade some of the tatty bits of our inherited kitchen. He immediately knew what our cupboards were and gave us options for finding new doors. It's the first kitchen we've "done" so really appreciated his expertise. Gabi is responsive, professional and organised and navigated an issue with one of our suppliers that delayed our installation brilliantly. They deserve every great review here. You'll probably have to wait to get booked in but I promise its worth it!

We just wanted to recommend John Marx for any kitchen upgrade, kitchen fitting etc etc, as he has done such a wonderful job. We saved a lot of money designing our own kitchen with DIY kitchens, and John was the best man to fit everything for us. It took him about a week or so! Very skilled, and very kind.

We have had some problems recently with other parts of our design, and John has come back twice now to help us at no charge.

Also, our dog loves him. Gabi, his wife was very helpful in setting things up for us too. 10/10.

Are you are looking to replace your kitchen in 2022. If you are then I would strongly recommend that you use Top Marx Kitchens. Having found them through this forum where they have received glowing reviews, we contacted John Marx for a visit and estimate. After gathering numerous quotes we opted for John Marx due to his knowledge, friendliness and highly competitive pricing.

Now our kitchen is complete we can see why John and his super efficient wife, Gabi , who manages all the admin, have built such a a strong local reputation. The service they have provided has been been FANTASTIC from start to finish. We found John to be great to have around the house, listening carefully to what we wanted, offering sound advice and finishing to the kitchen to an extremely high standard. Gabi was similarly a pleasure to work with - warm, friendly, well organised and super efficient - answering queries in a helpful and timely manner. John and Gabi provided us with a suggested timeline for the refurbishment and a list of excellent specialists (electricians, decorators, plasterers, gas engineer etc.) who they have a good workign relationship with. This meant we were able to keep costs down by 'project managing' and coordinating the different specialist inputs to the kitchen refurbishment ourselves. John Marx recently fitted our kitchen and I?d like to add my recommendation to the many that are already on this forum!

John takes great pride in his work ? he wants to do a great job for the customer and make sure they?re happy.

John concentrates on the kitchen fitting, so if other trades are needed, you have to organise these. I found this quite daunting at the beginning, but John?s wife, Gabi, is on hand to outline the process and provide a list of recommended tradespeople. This was a great help and I now have names of electricians / builders / plumbers etc that I can call on!

We had some supply issues which really threw John off schedule, but he was able to use his contacts with the suppliers and ensure we got everything we needed so that a workable kitchen was ready in the timeframe specified. Also, John came back faithfully for any snagging issues. And he?s great at timekeeping!

All this, and John & Gabi are genuinely nice and honest people to work with.

We had the pleasure of John and Gabi of 'Top Marx Kitchens' install our kitchen.

From the outset it was immediately apparent that they are just lovely people to work with. Starting with Gabi who is super efficient and helpful. John is an extremely proficient gentleman. Any kitchen install is always going to throw up some issues, and he always has a very systematic, 'can-do' approach with a smile that always inspires confidence. He is a man of many talents, so as much as you have to coordinate other tradesmen which does make things slightly more tricky, it is manageable. Gabi has a list of recommended traders, and it so happens we have previously used one or two names from that list prior to seeing it and can happily recommend them. (Although, I am not sure I can totally vouch for a painter on the list)

The only thing I would say is, I almost wish I had stepped in and involved myself more when the electrical first fix was being done, or asked John to liaise directly, earlier in the process. We ran into some minor issues which held things up. For example, somewhat annoyingly the wiring for fuse switches inside cupboards is not the prettiest thing, but by no means a deal breaker (electrician issue rather than fitter issue but may have been negated).

John and Gabi ultimately left us with a kitchen we love, with a fantastic finish. They are deserving of the array of positive reviews. The most positive thing I can say is their absolute commitment to providing ?post kitchen fit care?!

John is a highly skilled craftsman and he did a fantastic job installing our Ikea kitchen. The design was slightly quirky due to the configuration of the space, and inevitably threw up some unforeseen issues. John was great at problem-solving, and his patience and good humour at various hiccups (such as our having ordered the wrong drawers!) was much appreciated. He also came up with a number of creative finishing touches. His tips on shrink-wrap removal on all the Ikea items, removing and re-fitting drawers, and oak worktop maintenance were spot on. John also has a network of top tier tradesman we?ve also teamed up with. We?re so happy with our new kitchen.

A warm recommendation for John Marx who provided stellar kitchen fitting services back in June. John and Gaby (his partner) were super helpful, providing great advice and solutions in the planning phase. They were incredibly accommodating with my technical/ budget constraints and timings. The work was carried out as per original timings and to very high standards, with minimum disruption caused and all finished within time allocated. Top Marx recently worked with us to realise our semi-bespoke painted kitchen using Howdens' carcasses and plywood doors made for us by a carpenter. Top Marx were very patient in answering all our (many!) questions and accommodated any changes along the way in a very fuss-free manner; were happy to liaise over the phone and WhatsApp video calls with our carpenter, who was based outside of London; and delivered what they promised on time and to a high standard. You will need to project manage and find other trades yourself, but Top Marx can provide some leads for this process and, in the end, we commissioned their recommended electrician. To top it all, he just came back- gratis and at very short notice- 3 months later to replace our tap which developed a fault. All in all Top Marx are a very safe bet, at fair prices. I'd thoroughly recommend them for any kitchen update: John is a lovely guy to have in your home and Gabi keeps everything running so smoothly.

One very satisfied customer. John really knows his stuff, is passionate about his craft and a pleasure to be around (be warned he is far too easily distracted by cute, socially precocious toddlers). His wife, who acts as his administrative support, is friendly, communicative and makes sure that the operation runs like a well-oiled machine. I would advise that you engage his services early on in the planning phase as his advice and practical assistance was invaluable with everything from constructing platforms to raise the height of our base units to offering little tips on finishing touches. The delivery of our Wren kitchen was, without going into too much detail, extremely challenging and John's intervention helped to smooth out the kinks during the numerous phone calls with our case manager. As a result our project unfortunately ran over the estimate of four days but Gabi was always on hand to ensure that timely follow-up appointments were crammed into an already jam-packed calendar. There was never any decline in the quality of his work even as he rushed to deliver a working kitchen; never skimping on the finer details.

The couple really are a class act and my daughter still raves about the sumptuous chocolate brownines she received as a birthday treat from Gabi. Perhaps it maybe a good idea to schedule the kitchen installation around a significant date and drop some hints. Who knows, you may get lucky!

I can’t recommend John Marx highly enough as a kitchen fitter/carpenter/problem solver.  He came to do a bespoke repair/restoration of a broken corner cupboard, installing new shelves, a new base board, and re-fitting the original doors (which needed to be in a completely different configuration from the way they had been, as they had been attached to a carousel unit).  He also sorted out the problems we had had with the kick boards/dishwasher, which had annoyed and defeated us for literally years!.

In so doing, he discovered that our stone work surface had been badly installed by the original kitchen fitter and was potentially dangerous, as it was not properly supported.  We would never have realised this ourselves.  He found an ingenious and simple fix to it and I am very grateful indeed.
 

John is very polite and serious about his work and his wife Gabi is brilliant on the administration side - very clear and communicative.  I would not hesitate to recommend them.
