Recommendation for Dog training?

I see the dulwich dog man around sometimes - the dogs are all very well behaved! Not all erscues need training, we were lucky with ours from battersea, being an older dog (but still v v v v cute) she knew eveything and we just had to work the words out! good luck !
We used Pam Mulvaney too for our rescue dog. He hadnt been socialised as a puppy but this took a couple of years to reveal itself, and for his problems to show, so it was hard work and Pam really helped us. So would highly recommend socialisation under class conditions right from the start, even if your dog looks like he doesnt need it!

Thankyou so much everyone, sorry to take a while to come back to this thread.

bonniebird: I don't know yet, being 1st time dog owners we're taking our time to research what breed would fit well with our life & limited space (small London garden). I'd like to get a rescue dog, but we are progressing slowly. We'll probably get advice from Battersea or Dogstrust before we make any decisions. I jut wondered what training was available near by when we take the plunge.

macutd - 'noob' means 'new at this' you daft man, and you know that our son has you round his little finger, you know how much he wants a dog - it's inevitable, you cannot escape it!! :D

hi sillywomen. if its any help i can pop round and give some advise about getting a new dog. i only do ono2one training not classes but my friend pam who as been recommended on this post runs a class on mondays and a class on saturdays and is good for socialising with other dogs. there is many things to consider when looking for a dog for the first time. some people are lucky to have a good dog but sometimes you have to put the work in on training them for them to become a better dog.

please contact me on 07572214073 many thanks Robert Davies (Dulwich Dogman)

  • 1 month later...

we've recently done a great puppy training course with Jane Ball, Dulwich Dog School, which we really enjoyed. She runs them at the Scout Hut and also at the training huts next to Belair House.

The classes are kept very small and focussed and Jane is very knowledgeable. Definitely well worth while and good for any age dogs.

    • @Jellybeanz Food poisioning can take 4 hours or so for the symptoms to become apparent. you mention and I quote  "This incident was most defintely the ice-cream or the person serving it having dirty hands or gloves" I think that is a sweeping assumption again pointing blame at the cafe. Kids and adults can be violently sick out of the blue for any number of reasons..I've had situations where I have eaten the same as my partner prepared in our own home and then been sick once only-he was ok and after I'd been sick I felt fine. I feel you're very quick to point the finger at a local establishment frequented by many with a good hygene rating. To mention the other thread where you slated a local buisness because you and your child disliked their vegan hot chocolate (or something like that...)..It was'nt to you or your childs taste-fine don't blame the establishment. I'm fussy about coffee and matcha latte some places do coffee I enjoy and ditto Matcha latte-I would not post on a public forum that XXXX's matcha is rubbish because someone else may favour it. one mans meat is another mans poison as they say and my personal taste does not give me good reason to slate a local buisness (except in the case of a certain chain 'on the lordship' which is frankly all round pretty meh.
    • I think we can agree trees are fantastic, beautiful and a welcome part of our environment... the issue occurs as Nigello stated above when they aren't cared for or pruned regularly. When they cause damage to payments and property that isn't right, and unfortunately as trees mature - particularly some varieties - they show that it really isn't practical for them to be planted in close proximity to properties.
