Recommended Posts

This is the day when loads of streets in Central London are traffic free so everyone can cycle around and imagine a better future!

RideLondon FreeCycle is the ultimate ride for cyclists of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Set on a new, traffic-free eight-mile route, the event is a unique opportunity to explore central London by bike on Sunday 29 May ? and it's completely free to take part!

Southwark Cyclists will run a feeder ride at 10am from the cafe in Peckham Rye Park via Burgess Park and a ride back from Queen Street. For timing of the ride back speak to the ride leader who takes you in. Children (any age) are welcome with parents or carers. This is an experience for everyone. There will be other feeder rides from neighbouring boroughs. For details of other rides see: https://www.ridelondon.co.uk/our-rides/ridelondon-freecycle for more information.

London's annual festival of cycling. Sunday May 29th. Runs all day.

Southwark Cyclists are doing a led ride from Peckham Rye Park to Queen St in the City, via Burgess Park. Bruce is leading. It wil leave at 10am at Peckham Rye Park Cafe, and stop to pick up riders at 10.25 at Burgess Park Cafe (Chumleigh Gardens). https://www.ridelondon.co.uk/our-rides/freecycle-led-rides to book a slot and get a number.

you do not need to book. Feel free to turn up at Peckham Rye Park or Burgess Park. And of course anyone can just go to the traffic free roads in Central London under their own steam. It is a great event for families.

Also please consider Marshalling for Freecycle. We already have 100 people booked for our led ride and at present only 5 marshals. We need more, and if we have plenty marshals we can book more riders. So Southwark Cyclists is looking for competent cyclists to come and help for an hour (10-11). Marshalling mainly involves encouraging people to keep up and not to ride too wide. At junctions marshals, wearing bright tabards, will sometimes hold a lane of traffic so that more cyclists can cross. If you would like to help, please register as a volunteer marshal at
