April is CAMRA's Community Pubs Month - celebrate all that is great about local pubs and join us at our public meeting on 14 April at 10.30am in the Ivy House, 40 Stuart Road, SE15 to find out about the latest developments.

The Ivy House is the first ever Community Right to Bid pub and has just been bought by the community under the Localism Act. We're pretty excited about that!

Find out all about it on 14 April and check out our website at www.ivyhousenunhead.com.

What an amazing meeting!!!

Just received this email:

Thanks to everyone who came to our public meeting at the Ivy House on Sunday. We were thrilled and a bit taken aback by the turnout and level of support for the pub! We hope you found it interesting and felt inspired to take part. We will put detailed notes of the meeting on our website in due course for anyone who struggled to hear from the back of the packed room. Any questions at all, please get in touch. Many thanks for everyone who has already bought shares. For those of you who are considering investing, all investment details are at http://www.ivyhousenunhead.com

I was talking to some people last night who still didn't know that The Ivy House is now London's first community-owned pub, so I'm posting this purely to put this thread to the top of the page again .... and hopefully encourage more people to buy shares!

Apart from a grant and other funding, they are already nearly halfway to their target of ?100,000 from selling community shares.

Full details about the share issue here (click on "Buy Shares") :

http://ivyhousenunhead.com/

Money raised from the shares will be used for things like essential building maintenance work and renewing the kitchen, plus working capital for the initial months, eg for wages and stock.

The plan is to reopen the pub in August.

There is no tie with any brewery or pubco, and CAMRA have been very supportive, so hopefully there will be an excellent range of draught and bottled ales :)

It's really exciting that this pub with such an interesting history will be open again soon as a real hub for the local community.

Just seen this which went onto the Ivy House's website yesterday.

We have now received advance assurance from HMRC that EIS relief will apply to investments in Ivy House Community Pub Limited. Shareholders will be eligible for income tax relief at 30% of the value of the shares they buy. Full details will be sent out through our mailing list in due course. In the interim, find our more at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/eis.

Hooray!

More info from The Ivy House!

Dear All

Here are some updates in relation to the pub:

EIS Relief

We have just received advance assurance from HMRC that Enterprise Investment Scheme ("EIS") relief will apply to investments in Ivy House Community Pub Limited. Shareholders will be eligible for income tax relief at 30% of the value of their shares bought in the pub. You can find out more about the scheme here: www.hmrc.gov.uk/eis.

When the pub has been trading for 4 months, we will contact HMRC and provide them with a list of our shareholders. HMRC will then require us to prepare some paperwork before shareholders claim their EIS relief.

Share issue - we're half way there!

We've now achieved ?52,600 in pledges, which is fantastic. Thanks to all who have bought shares to date. Let's keep going. If you haven't bought your shares yet, there is still some time. If you have any questions, you can contact us through our website.

Help us spread the word

If you use social media, please retweet and repost all the latest updates from the Ivy House to help us spread the news that the pub is coming back. Tell your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues.

We have a a couple more ideas for events to be held before the end of May when the share issue closes so we hope to see you soon.

We will shortly be sending another mailing detailing everything that was discussed at last Sunday's meeting.

Any questions, please ask!

Thanks.

    • No, signs of sense and scrutiny of "leaders" not knowing the impact of what they have done, so much so that every citizen in the UK will suffer financially as a result of an incompetent, incoherent, unhinged Govt that's impact is effecting every citizen in the UK. Where things were being turned around by the last lot, this lot has already compromised all that work in its first 120 days in power. You may not like it but that's the truth.  We are never going to agree and actually Reeves, Rayner and Starmer need to go, like yesterday.

    • This is why you are not the chancellor! Rachel Reeves won't be going anywhere until either she fixes things or Starmer needs someone to blame!
    • I fully agree. I hope you had some khinkali (Georgian dumplings), they're fantastic! They used to have only meat ones but now they also have mushroom ones and they're great. I always try to fit in a honey cake at dessert. Overall I appreciate that their food and menu seems to only improve with time.
