bonaome
To Let sign has gone onto the boarded up front and builders were in there on Monday stripping out the work that has been done. I saw inside and it looked to me like it wasn?t far off finished. The menu on the website looks great so I was looking forward to it opening. But guessing they?ve decided not to open in ED. Anyone know more? Still says ?opening soon? on the website. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/308170-megans/ Share on other sites

Sue
That's a bit weird.I had a flyer through the door only a few days ago.Are you sure they aren't opening? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/308170-megans/#findComment-1578330 Share on other sites
KidKruger
This morning workmen had fixed the signage and were putting finishing touches to the hoarding outside. The signage says ?Megans?, so if they are closing (before even opening) I wonder why they are still attending to the signage.Looks like they are opening? NewWave
I just posted on the 'new shops' thread in general topics.Having been to the one in Dulwich Village twice -once to try it out when they first opened and more recently because we were in that neck of the woods-I really wouldn't get excited about going there. It looks good but service was haphazard, food was lukewarm and didn't live up to how it sounded on the menu and worst of all they play awful 80's music (both times same music must be on a loop-no wonder the waitresses seemed slow they've probably lost the will, listening to Aha,tears for fears, that warbling song 'True' by spandau ballet etc etc on endless rotation)Do yourself and a small independent a favour and spend your money elsewhere. bonaome
Looked to me like they were clearing out. They were removing tiles that had been fitted. I guess they were actually removing ones that had been incorrectly laid to relay them properly. Very much looks like it is indeed opening, going past there tonight. Sue
I've had an email inviting me to book a table for their opening day. 50% off and a free glass of prosecco. I must have signed up for it.The trouble is I don't find the food pix all that inviting, and I was rather taken aback to be addressed as "Dearest Sue" 😂 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/308170-megans/#findComment-1578526 Share on other sites
NewWave
Really I wouldn't bother...even at 50% off I wouldn't eat there again. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/308170-megans/#findComment-1578554 Share on other sites

Thai-vedic massage
I love 80s music! Sounds fab! (New wave: how can you have a name like NewWave and hate 80s music 🤷🏼♂️)Some one should tell them that absolutely no-one I know calls Lordship Lane "The Lordship" though. People will think it's situated on top of a pub 🤣[Their sign says "Megan's on the Lordship"] Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/308170-megans/#findComment-1578652 Share on other sites

mrwb
It's opening opposite M&S where William Hill used to be? Kind of confusing name for it given the pub it bit further up is also called The Lordship. Must be reaching peak cafe in ED I think?, with Pret opening at the other old bookies opposite ED station too. Very confusing, and sounds a bit ridiculous in my opinion.Didn't they do any research before naming it? Wonder what The Lordship thinks about it, especially as they provide food as well. What will happen if The Lordship is googled? And it's only just up the road, on the same side!, Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/308170-megans/#findComment-1578907 Share on other sites
Spartacus
Maybe, looking at their website, Lordship refers to Lordship lane as that seems to be how they name their other businesses after the place or road they are on. IMHO rather then relying on a bad experience at another branch, give them a chance, see if the management team at this one has it right rather then doing the typical EDF trick of putting a business down before you've tried it. Though I believe both did start in the 80s/post punk. 80s pop was indeed pretty trashy, But then I like a bit of trash now and again. KidKruger
If I ran The Lordship pub, I?d be getting the name of my pub taken off Megans?s signage !Sue Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Spartacus Wrote:> --------------------------------------------------> -----> > Maybe, looking at their website, Lordship> refers> > to Lordship lane as that seems to be how they> name> > their other businesses after the place or road> > they are on. > >> > But they haven't named it Megan's on Lordship> Lane!> > They've named it Megan's on The Lordship!
