Update on The Patch from... The Patch!!!

Curiously no planning application on the Southwark Website yet.

Planning for what? - it's not change of use - are they altering the external structure? Clearly the licence has to change hands - but that would be a licencing committee, not a planning committee?

There's a link to the ES article further up this thread, but here it is again to save you looking!

What do the Patch people say is inaccurate?

Where did the ES get their information from?

Just been looking at the Patch tweets, and on 1 April they tweeted that the lease was to be signed "this week" (ie the week of 1 April).

And on 11 April they tweeted

The piece about Keri and the Patch in the Standard is entirely misquoted and untrue - they have mis reported the facts to a huge extent

but when somebody (not me!) asked The Patch (on Twitter) whether they could say which bits were inaccurate, there was no response.

It's difficult not to compare this saga with the way The Ivy House community purchase has been completed and publicised, with a comprehensive business plan and a proper community share issue.

The public meeting at The Ivy House on Sunday was rammed to the gills, and the presentation by the management team was truly inspiring.

Because it's one of the pubs nearest to my home, and I've been going to it on and off for around twenty years probably, quite regularly in some of its more recent incarnations!

I'd like to know what's happening to it, and I can't understand why there seem to be so many apparently premature announcements.

For example, there was this on 13 November where nonold said that the decision on who was taking over the Mag was being made that week - that was over five months ago!

Then the present temporary landlord Tony appears to think that he is also still in the running to take over the lease:

An extract from Tony's thread: Hi sue we are here to see if we can make the pub work again and then we have the option to take on the lease. I hope this help's.

Yet on 3 April The Patch posted this on their Facebook page:

Hi all,

Meeting up with the Enterprise Inn people tomorrow, tying up a few loose ends. It would be great if we could show a bit of movement on Kickstarter! So please spread the word and get your friends pledging!! Every little bit counts!

I also can't understand apparent discrepancies in statements about exactly what The Patch is supposed to be, and how it can possibly be a) community owned b) fully independent or c) fully self-sufficient, but I'm not going to bang on about that again. Oh, I just did. :)

My interest is as a local resident and prospective Mag regular, and nothing to do with the Goose music nights, as it is highly unlikely that http://www.thegooseisout.com will ever return to the Mag (sadly, as we had some great nights there!)

    • @Jellybeanz Food poisioning can take 4 hours or so for the symptoms to become apparent. you mention and I quote  "This incident was most defintely the ice-cream or the person serving it having dirty hands or gloves" I think that is a sweeping assumption again pointing blame at the cafe. Kids and adults can be violently sick out of the blue for any number of reasons..I've had situations where I have eaten the same as my partner prepared in our own home and then been sick once only-he was ok and after I'd been sick I felt fine. I feel you're very quick to point the finger at a local establishment frequented by many with a good hygene rating. To mention the other thread where you slated a local buisness because you and your child disliked their vegan hot chocolate (or something like that...)..It was'nt to you or your childs taste-fine don't blame the establishment. I'm fussy about coffee and matcha latte some places do coffee I enjoy and ditto Matcha latte-I would not post on a public forum that XXXX's matcha is rubbish because someone else may favour it. one mans meat is another mans poison as they say and my personal taste does not give me good reason to slate a local buisness (except in the case of a certain chain 'on the lordship' which is frankly all round pretty meh.
