Recycling Various Items

Recommended Posts

Sorry but I can't find the previous threads on this.

1. FOOD BAGS (not carrier bags) eg which have held frozen fruit or veg. Does the Co-op on Lordship Lane take these? If not, where is the nearest place I can take them? I have loads of them.

2. MEDICINE BLISTER PACKS. I believe the Superdrug near Camberwell Green takes these, as they have a pharmacy. Has anybody taken them there and can confirm this?

3. DAILY CONTACT LENS CASES. I was taking these to Paine and Hunger on Lordship Lane pre-Covid, but then they were closed unless you had an appointment. Is that still the case?

4. SMALL ELECTRICAL ITEMS. I googled, and found that Argos in Sainsbury's on DKH takes these, but it wasn't clear whether or not you had to buy a replacement at the same time. Can anybody confirm (they don't have a replacement I would want)?

Thanks. Again, sorry for the repetition but I hope this might be of use to others (assuming somebody knows the answers, of course!)

I'm talking about bags from things like frozen berries, but thanks!

But I'm confused now. If Sainsbury's now takes other bags with the carrier bags, are we talking about the flimsy bags used to put fresh fruit and veg in, or (what I am talking about) plastic bags which for example frozen peas or blueberries come in?

Sorry to repeat the question, but I am hoping to take my plastic bags up to Sainsbury's DKH tomorrow, so I need to know if they take bags which things like FROZEN peas or FROZEN fruit have been in?

Sorry for shouting!

I just took a small number of my bags there, searched all over the store for a bin for them, eventually asked at the till and was told they don't take them???

The Co-Op on Lordship Lane did have a bin (at the front, near the tobacco/drink kiosk) until recently at least.

Sainsburys have a handy list on the outside of the plastic bag bins (near the photo booth) telling you exactly what kind of plastic you can now put in them. I expect it includes packaging for FROZEN PEAS.

Yes, I had to go there anyway today to get photos taken, so I checked out the bins and took a photo of the list!

Amazed to find three big bins for the recycling!

I took my massive amount to Camberwell Superdrug today, and the bin was full, but I asked the person on the pharmacy counter and she had another big box behind the counter, so I was able to put them all in there.

Result!

I've used this now, it was very easy, thanks.

You print out a label and take the package to the Post Office. I had quite a large boxful.

Postage is free.

The worst part was the queue at the Post Office. I probably shouldn't have gone the day after their strike! I did the whole of the Grauniad quick crossword and started the cryptic one 🤣

Several of the pictures have M&S on them. Does that mean they only take their own wrappers?

I went in today and asked one of the assistants. She didn't know. She asked another one. She didn't know either 😂

I think although it's further away I'll stick to the Sainsbury's recycling bins. Also I'm less tempted to go and investigate their food (I came away from M&S with Florentines. I feel a bit sick now 😂)
