seanmlow
I saw them today with Bont Interiors looking empty - sounds like a nice addition! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3076-new-coffee-shop-forest-hill-rd/#findComment-95453 Share on other sites
bon3yard
I live above the dentists and havent noticed any new cafe(then again I did lose my eyesight in a freak kite flying accident)...could it be true? Is this an attempt by the residents of Lordship Lane to provide a safety run off for all the yummy mummies occupying everywhere with a seat on the lane. Good thinking. I shall visit forthwith. Nero
I'm all for it. Hopefully it'll help that parade 'get better'. The revamped launderette, the beauty parlour, Si Mangia, Anatolya and the established businesses are all good, but there's still an air of shabbiness about the place. Does anyone know who owns the yellow and blue place next to the barber's? It's a dump. And what is the blue place on the corner? PM me if anyone knows. jumpinjackflash
The yellow and blue place used to be the Morrocan type bistro (something Tree I think), then it moved to where Si Mangia is now before being took over by Si Mangia staff. The owner of the old Moroccan place is still around as I see him occasionally. Jah Lush
Wasn't that the Two Trees Lounge? And, I'm up for anything that improves parade, so good luck to the coffee shop. jumpinjackflash
It was called Two Trees - I was racking my brain trying to remember it!jumpinjackflash Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> The yellow and blue place used to be the Morrocan> type bistro (something Tree I think), then it> moved to where Si Mangia is now before being took> over by Si Mangia staff. Nero
Jumpinjackflash, hello. If you see the Two Trees man, could you ask him whether he has any plans for his place, or even if he'd like to clear it up a bit. (I know some might see that as an imposition, but I wouldn't, before there are 'how dare you' posts.) woodie
I dont think its his place. I dont know how it all works but there was some big restriction about ventilation in the kitchen I seem to remember and so had to move. It was great 2 trees. SeanMacGabhann
Another fan of the double-tree establishment here! I seemed to make it down to that neck of the woods more often when that was there than I do nowadays (when it could be argued there is more choice) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3076-new-coffee-shop-forest-hill-rd/#findComment-95551 Share on other sites
MadWorld74
Hurray for another coffee shop. Now I can avoid Le Chandelier and Cafe Nero as they bore me!!! boosboss
They're hoping to be open for May 19th. There's a lot of work to get done before then, but I'm sure they'll manage it :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3076-new-coffee-shop-forest-hill-rd/#findComment-95591 Share on other sites
pearcesa
I loved Two Trees when it was in the 'yellow and blue' shop, it just went down-hill when it moved to where the Italian is now, shame as it was really popular before it moved.I see Anatolya is closed AGAIN for refurbishments, I'm sure there is a link between new eating places opening and Anatolya closing to re-invent itself, the funny thing is I have rarely seen anyone in there so am wondering how the place makes any money! :-SWill be great to have a new coffee shop will mean I don't have to sit outside in the cold to avoid all the awful noisy children in the park cafe!!! >:D< Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3076-new-coffee-shop-forest-hill-rd/#findComment-95603 Share on other sites
woodie
I think its a tough stretch to make a restaurant work there. One of those dead spots.Could be a coffee shop could open it up a bit. Its very functional, chemist, post office, barber, newsagent, bookies, launderette. Not really an evening spot or afternoon hang out type of area is it? Will take imagination to make it work. Oily Telly Tyke
Agreed, but i don't think you can beat a few jars in the FHT and an Omrith! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3076-new-coffee-shop-forest-hill-rd/#findComment-95607 Share on other sites
SeanMacGabhann
If this double-whammy isn't quite under-rated it's certainly underutilised - and I belive one of th enext curry club nights is aiming to do just those things... tedsmum
I thinkit will be a brilliant addition to the parade. Another choice for lunch is always welcome, especially if cakes and pastries are on offer! Nero
I agree that FHR is predominantly functional in terms of businesses there, but am confident that a revamped Anatolya and a new coffee shop will encourage more interest from customers and perhaps other businesses. Nevertheless, I still would like the parade to be pleasanter in terms of the way it looks. We'll see. prdarling
The builders have just told my Mum it'll be a coffee shop, patisserie and organic bakers??? I'm all for this. Siduhe
I walked past the other day and a tall blonde lady was opening up for the builders with the biggest dog I have ever seen. Looked a bit like an Irish Wolfhound, but black rather than grey. She said "slowly" when I asked how the builders were getting on. Great news and just what the parade needs. Jah Lush
Thumbs up for this. I hope it works out well. Any new addition to this part of the area has to be good. After the lovely people at Si Mangia moved there last year all this parade needs is a few more better shops and or restaurants. Hopefully Anatolya will be up and running again soon as well or maybe in another guise. This parade of shops just needs a little sprucing up and it could be very pleasant.
