Incident in Lordship Lane Estate today

Recommended Posts

Today at around mid-day me and my husband were walking our dogs behind a housing block in the lordship lane estate (Opposite the vets in dulwich and next to the makeshift "Grove skatepark") where we witnessed a short white male and a taller black male chase two black boys on bicycles with knives and throwing bottles at them. The younger white male was waving a large machete/sword. It was absolutely horrifying and shocking and really traumatised me. I always assumed that the community of east dulwich were some of the kindest people I've lived around and the work in the community is amazing. I would not expect such a shocking thing to happen on the streets of SE22! We did call the police and they came rather quickly and apparently they have a lead to an arrest due to the cameras. Just wondering if any other ED Residents witnessed this.

No, and for that I am extremely glad. I am not sure what the dispute is over either. But honestly the whole experience has been very harrowing. Everyone involved in the altercation was young and that makes me wonder what the government is doing to school the new generation about the risks of knife crime as it is a scene seen time and time again on our streets. Thanks for all the kind messsages

    • I do think that many social housing tenancies have terms written about flooring too.  They are often ignored but if you ask your local housing officer about that it could be worthwhile. I understand that you do not want to cause a fuss but if the noise from upstairs or nextdoor is unreasonable than you do not have to tolerate it.   The tenant next door might be a new tenant and it is worth their while to respect the regulations and be a good neighbour some people have just moved but have a secure tenancy. Others might be on a newer type of tenancy that is reviewed etc. My upstairs neighbours kids jump up and down from furniture onto the floor it is so freaking noisy and it gets on my last nerve but it is in usually done after 7am and before 9pm and some days it is quiet the noise is intermittent.  So at least I get a quiet night's sleep.   Which is a huge blessing.  To be fair we are not the quietest of homes either.  You are entitled to be able to have some peace in your home.  So don't allow others to ruin the enjoyment of having a lovely home.   Read the stuff in the Southwark website around environmental issues which I think explains reasonable noise etc.  If you don't follow it up it will never change.  Good luck 🤞
