since having children i have become a classic 'mum' for example recently encountering a mobile phone that i didn't know how to use to make a call. so when i clicked on this thread i genuinely thought that one of the arcades had suffered a fire in brixton. i hope one day to keep up with the kids again...

Dear Mr Mightyroar.

First gig I'd been to since a friend made me go and watch Orbital with her a couple of years ago and after 2 songs I wanted to go home and lie down..however I thought Arcade Fire were FAB and it was over all too quickly. Their energy and passion had me hooked from the first song. Love Win's vocals.Came home and put Funeral on very loud.

Have you seen today's Observer Music mag front cover "Could the Arcade Fire be the best band in the world?". A Paul Morley. (Actually I dozed off as I was reading it but I agreed with the headline such was my high at the end of the evening, possibly also caused by dropping in to The Drum to say hi to any forumites on the way there.)

I was a bit phased on the way in when girls had to go in one door and boys in the other..the security was much heavier than I expected.....is it always like that there now??

Clicked on to this thread because I thought there was a real fire in an arcade in Brixton.

Now understand it's something to do with a pop group.

Have made a note with my pencil in my diary: "Arcade Fire" pop group. Mention to teenage kids!

Now worried that when I drop name 'Arcade Fire' into conversation kids will give me that Jeremy Clarkson, still wears jeans at his age look.

Please advise.

    • Nope that concern predates the Jerk festival.  But I am talking about when I first moved to SE London and some locals complained that the nice music was too loud. Separately some people are still moaning about the Jerk festival,  Felt some comments were (casual) racist, but that is a different subject matter. That day was great,  A victim of its own success. A kin to Fatboy Slim playing a free festival on Brighton beach, tens of thousands went but it took a long long time to clean up.

    • That’s not how life works jazzer if you accuse anyone of anything you have to be able to back it up  besides. I thought you were “done with me”. Yet here you sir plucking accusations out of the air but without any backbone or evidence
    • always want things want your way, always try to play high and mighty, always try and shut people down who question you or disagree with you, BORING.
