It's good that Labour has taken action to encourage less car use. The other major parties just seem to say what they won't do at a local level. At a national level the Tory/LD coalition was particularly useless, and it wasn't until the subsequent Tory government lost in the Supreme Court that this was taken seriously
The candidates for Goose Green ward standing in tomorrow?s election are a mystery apart from Labour. I don?t know who the LD candidates are and assume no other party is standing as I have had absolutely no info from the Tories, Greens etc? It?s ridiculous.

That I agree with. They're expected to lose the most seats tomorrow and will hopefully be another foot closer out of the door for Boris.

I think overall the Tories will get a kicking nationally, especially considering the electoral pacts that seem to have been made in some areas between Labour and the Lib Dems but Labour could take a kicking in some wards here.

We had another Labour activist knock on our door tonight about our voting intentions and when we said not Labour they ask why and we said the LTNs and the activist said that the LTNs were a big issue in the ward.

Maybe Labour are about to find out how small that small vocal minority they ignored is?..

I saw through the act very quickly.

Hi James, I have voted Lib Dem for the first time in my postal vote, fingers cross for Thursday :)

I currently have an issue being handled by a councilor, the councilor has told me he is not standing this term, but copied in a fellow councilor who is standing. I am sure there will be a hand-over period for good practice, not sure how this pans out with a change of party color. keep an eye on the results on Friday!!

Publish in February, but might be of interest: https://dulwichalliance.org/liberal-democrats-dulwich-village/

I don't take it personally, I know LTNs have been a huge issue for many councils, including Southwark.

Its a shame we did not cover other local issues though, such as the amount of council tax we pay, adult social care, pot holes in roads, council housing repairs, libraries, playgroups, schools etc... (I am not suggesting there is anything wrong with any of these services).

One of the services I would like to see changed is the delivery company medequip. They deliver equipment to children and adults who have a medical and/or health need. They are absolutely useless. Bring the service in house and get rid of this company who charges the local authority a fortune to deliver every single day, and makes vast profits.

On a related note, trinidad, with the cost of living crisis front and centre in most people?s minds, I want my local councillors to focus on ensuring the council has good financial management and stewardship and is trying to minimise the cost of council services generally (not just council tax) where they can do so (and I don?t just mean cutting services). There are lots of questions to be asked about details. For example, there?s an item in the most recent forward plan that indicates the council is going to pay more to Veolia to cover the cost of the increase in employer national insurance contributions

https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgIssueHistoryHome.aspx?IId=50029115&PlanId=728&RPID=3849436

Why the risk of this increase would rest with the council in an outsourcing arrangement of this type is the kind of question someone needs to be asking.

Less grandstanding about national party policy and more attention to detail, I say. Cllr Mills asked a good question the other day about free school meals. If on a particular day or over a period the child selects food valued less than the daily allowance, is the difference carried over and credited to the child or does the contractor pocket the benefit? See

It seems she is still waiting for an answer.

From watching council meetings during lockdown, the LD?s Adele Morris stands out as a councillor who is very good on this front, in the planning area. She seems to be standing down this time which is a pity.

I?d like more councillors like these whatever their party. Not ones who read out prepared speeches from scripts that seem to have been put together and distributed by party central.

Off shortly to try and get myself some!

I?d like to see ultra local committees but a London wide mega council that would operate more like city councils in, say, NYC. Sure, there?d need to be local considerations but the wealth could be spread and all those different services (but which do the same thing, like teaching or collecting rubbish) integrated. Londonb is like a mini country so having a ?parliament? and ?premier? could encourage more voting and participation. And I?ve voted even though I?m suggesting a different MO here.

With someone who has friends in Wandsworth, that's hokum cyclemonkey

Services are just as good, if not better then here

As I said Hillingdon gets a fair bit of praise

Hillingdon ?972.90

Local issues are paramount in local elections...the thing I noticed in the Herne Hill hustings is when one Dulwich Councillor was answering questions it was all very, very vague and meaningless and they kept referring to central government. I?ve voted Labour for nearly 40 yrs and the current front bench are talentless, self promoting, disgustingly wealthy liars as far as I can see, but they didn?t put 5 LTNs into this area under a premise of Covid 19 Emergency, plan them so poorly that they create areas of wealthy gated communities at the expense of major school and residential streets.

Vote for local issues in local elections.

I can't divorce local from national politics - too much personal pain from finding out what Boris and others in government were doing whilst at the same time I was questioning whether I could visit / hug my terminally ill father.

A strong message needs to be sent to the Conservatives.

Could those who are able to post any pictures they have of the thief?  Amazon are not meant to ignore your delivery instructions, so ask for compensation as well as a refund if it happens. Evri do nothing but confirmed parcels are not meant to be left outside.  Ps. I filled a parcel with food scraps & brown bin stuff then topped it with shredded paper so they'd have to dig through.
