bonaome
I am struggling to find a savings account or ISA for my 16 year old.She isn?t eligible for a junior ISA.I can?t find a cash ISA you can open before 18.The kids? savers accounts all seem to stop when they turn 16.She already has a current account and we don?t want to change it.Any ideas? PeckhamNicola
Normal cash ISAs should be available from age 16 eg terms for Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) Internet Saver ISA Plus Issue 10 say it is. Rate pretty low. Not sure why she isn't eligible for junior cash ISA,presume some reason other than age- rates for these are higher. Underhook
Open a junior ISA and put the savings in that. When your child turns 18 it will convert automatically into a normal ISA in their name. You need to apply for the JISA on behalf of your child, they can?t do it themselves I believe Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/305975-savings-account-16-year-old/#findComment-1572644 Share on other sites
bonaome
Thank you @peckhamnicola - all of the ones I looked at, e.g. Paragon?s, were 18+. The YBS 1 year fix cash isa will be perfect for her.
