Anyone flown out of Terminal 5 in the last few days and can let me know what to expect? I phoned BA yesterday to check on check-in and was told to try and get there 2 hours and 45 mins ahead. Is this excessive?

I'm flying to Athens on Thursday with my best girls for our annual Spring Bitch-Break. These are some high-maintenance bitches so going with carry-on luggage only is going to present a bit of a challenge. Has BA reverted to its normal level of luggage loss or is it still loosing Terminal 5 luggage wholesale?

I made it to Athens, via Terminal 5, more or less un-scarred. We got stuck in 2 separate lifts at Terminal 5. It's a long way from the terminal to the gates (15-20 minutes) and the signage could be A LOT better. I did carry on only as I really couldn't face having my luggage lost, but I still made room for my laptop (obviously).

    • The empty shelves is well reported, but the sewage smell has been awful for weeks if not months, and just keeps getting worse. It started off near the Costa machine/ behind the delivery and collections booth thing, but now it hits you the second you walk in the store. I’m amazed nothing (visibly at least) appears to be going on to fix it. Somewhat relieved it’s not just me who can smell it!
