seanmlow
Is it me, or does this need to be made smaller? From the looks of it, it has been it several times, and buses appear to struggle to get around it.Are there any plans to do this? TJMP
There was a consultation last year: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/Uploads/FILE_26962.pdfApparently a Chilean Wine Palm http://images.google.co.uk/images?um=1&hl=en&rls=GGLJ%2CGGLJ%3A2006-41%2CGGLJ%3Aen-GB&q=chilean+wine+palm is due to be planted by the end of May that has to be imported from... Chile. Its installation will require a road closure apparently due to its size.According to Southwark there are no current plans to look at the size of the roundabout although this was consulted on several years ago when the bus priority network was being introduced and the idea was rejected.Tessa Jowell (Office) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3057-goose-green-roundabout/#findComment-94884 Share on other sites
Cassius
Well I never saw that before in my life and I certainly wouldn't have voted for anything that involved the closing of roads! Trev
Only last week I saw a car getting pranged by a bus navigating the roundabout. Although in fairness, trying to get from Grove Vale onto Lordship Lane on the inside of a bus going the same direction is not the smartest move.A huge, mesmerising palm tree should help drivers focus on the task in hand. I do like the look of the tree, though. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3057-goose-green-roundabout/#findComment-94889 Share on other sites
Siduhe
We got a copy of and responded to the consultation. We didn't vote for a "feature tree". That said, I actually think the size of the roundabout is about right considering the pedestrian crossings at the start of Lordship Lane (which I would personally like to see moved a few feet back onto the Lane, but that's another story). It forces traffic (including buses) to slow down, even when the entrance onto the roundabout from the right is clear. I've seen a couple of drivers have very near misses with pedestrians on the crossings coming off the roundabout, which might have been considerably worse if the cars had been going faster. snorky
the bigger the roundabout, tbe better - does it realkly matter is getting through the GG RB takes an exctra 30 seconds ?noif people drive their fetid little tinny euroboxes as if they were F1 cars, then there will always be accidents- easing the traffic flow will just make things worse.make LL a bus only zone between 8Am-6PMsorted Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3057-goose-green-roundabout/#findComment-94911 Share on other sites

*Bob*
I voted for a giant pile of rotting dung, topped with hundred and thousands - and a cocktail umbrella. Who's with me? snorky
importing trees from Chile...you fokin morons - who voted for that option ?Why not use it for the benefit of local busiensses and build the black cherry extension in the middle of it ?2 birds/ one stone Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3057-goose-green-roundabout/#findComment-94922 Share on other sites
jocelyn
Tree smee - who cares about a tree in a roundabout - ridiculous waste of money bringing it over from Chile - could they not just use a British one if one at all. I vote the Black Cherry idea - perfect solution! Fag to your hearts content in and amongst the road rage of SE22 - would be enough to make you want to give up. How dodgy are the pedestrian crossings there though! Always feel sorry for people when cars zoon by pretending not to see.. Cassius
Perhaps it could just be an open air drinking area - various off-license outlets in the area - lie back and enjoy the 'view'. seanmlow
Cassius -I like your thinking. Put up a few tables, few boxes of wine. One could sip Pinot and enjoy the 'hustle and bustle' of the ver popular East Dulwich. What is 'wine' tree? Sounds great!
