There was a consultation last year: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/Uploads/FILE_26962.pdf


Apparently a Chilean Wine Palm http://images.google.co.uk/images?um=1&hl=en&rls=GGLJ%2CGGLJ%3A2006-41%2CGGLJ%3Aen-GB&q=chilean+wine+palm is due to be planted by the end of May that has to be imported from... Chile. Its installation will require a road closure apparently due to its size.


According to Southwark there are no current plans to look at the size of the roundabout although this was consulted on several years ago when the bus priority network was being introduced and the idea was rejected.

Only last week I saw a car getting pranged by a bus navigating the roundabout. Although in fairness, trying to get from Grove Vale onto Lordship Lane on the inside of a bus going the same direction is not the smartest move.


A huge, mesmerising palm tree should help drivers focus on the task in hand. I do like the look of the tree, though.

We got a copy of and responded to the consultation. We didn't vote for a "feature tree".


That said, I actually think the size of the roundabout is about right considering the pedestrian crossings at the start of Lordship Lane (which I would personally like to see moved a few feet back onto the Lane, but that's another story). It forces traffic (including buses) to slow down, even when the entrance onto the roundabout from the right is clear. I've seen a couple of drivers have very near misses with pedestrians on the crossings coming off the roundabout, which might have been considerably worse if the cars had been going faster.

the bigger the roundabout, tbe better - does it realkly matter is getting through the GG RB takes an exctra 30 seconds ?


no


if people drive their fetid little tinny euroboxes as if they were F1 cars, then there will always be accidents- easing the traffic flow will just make things worse.


make LL a bus only zone between 8Am-6PM

Tree smee - who cares about a tree in a roundabout - ridiculous waste of money bringing it over from Chile - could they not just use a British one if one at all.


I vote the Black Cherry idea - perfect solution! Fag to your hearts content in and amongst the road rage of SE22 - would be enough to make you want to give up.


How dodgy are the pedestrian crossings there though! Always feel sorry for people when cars zoon by pretending not to see..

      Majority of reported hate crime is based on ethnicity, brown, black and mixed heritage. Mosley’s fascists were opposed and defeated all over the east end, not with petitions either. The principal leadership in driving them back came from the Communist Party but it was a united, cross community movement.       I really hope so too, but they aren't going to get much passing trade, and parking round there isn't easy. Fingers crossed.
