nikki73
I posted a few weeks ago about north facing garden. I am now looking at a property with an east facing garden. Will it get any sun in the afternoon? will it make the house really cold. Any good with kids?thanks for any tips. Norfolkvillas
We are east-south-east facing and get plenty of sun - one side is more shady than the other, so we've planted accordingly. For us, there is a big seasonal difference, I guess cos of where we are in relation to the buildings around us, so might not be the same for all east facing gardens, but we get much, much less sun from Sept - Feb than we do March - Aug - in the latter months we get sun in the garden through til 5.30pm. It actally works well for us, as from middayish there's always enough shade for kids to play in / paddling pool etc, but also enough sun for me to lounge about in, soaking up the rays and reading the papers (oh, sorry, I'm getting confused with before I had kids) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/30447-east-facing-garden/#findComment-627969 Share on other sites
LondonMix
Depends. Is the Southern aspect exposed? How long is the garden? The longer the garden the later you will get sun at the back. If the Southern aspect is relatively exposed you could get lots of sun until quite late. The devil is in the detail... Townleygreen
Our garden is quite long (150 feet) and faces east. Sun in morning near the house, then sun at the bottom till late in summer.
